Traveling with expensive luggage can send out a red flag to thieves so dont leave your bags unattended at any time.
To be on the safe side, take a picture of your luggage and one of what you have packed inside to show someone if your luggage happens to be stolen. This way you have a means of identifying your luggage and proof of just what was inside of it.
Be sure to remove any old tags that were on you luggage to prevent confusion. You dont want it to end up in Denver while you are in Atlantic City.
Put identity tags both outside and inside the luggage. The outside one can be easily ripped off but you are the only one that knows there is one inside also.
To identify luggage at the carousel when picking it up, you can always mark canvas luggage with a fabric paint, putting either your name or a picture on both sides to make it easier to pick out amongst all the other bags.
You could also tie a small colorful handkerchief to the handle to make your bag stand out among all the bags when picking yours up.
