Have you ever gotten really caught up in playing at a casino? Well, theres a reason for that. Everything in a casino is set up to keep you there.
From the carpeting and the way its designed to the layout of the casino is designed to keep you there for as long as possible.
Ever look for a clock in a casino? You most likely wont find one as to be aware of the time is to be aware of the fact that we should have left long ago.
And what about the music that is played through the PA system? Any sublimal messages there saying stay and play? The possiblities are very good that there are.
It is even said that some slot machines have been manufactured to send out pleasing smells while we are playing. Yet another ploy to keep us playing longer.
So I guess we all wear a watch and go to the casinos with a certain amount of money and a set amount of time to play and stick to it, otherwise we may be there all night and come out quite broke.

You do have a point there IluvVegas. It seems that as soon as I walk into a casino I feel like dropping money into the slots, but not all the time.
If my stomach is growling, it has priority. :D
But, as most of us know we all go to Vegas mainly for one thing; to gamble.
I try not to let the noises around me stick me to one spot.
But again, I do find myself staying glued to one chair if I am getting tired after a long day.
I love all the music and sweet smells in the different casinos, 'cause; That's Vegas Baby! :chipstack:

Don't forget about the fresh oxygen being pumped in to keep you going!
It's no secret why you go to Vegas anyway and the competition out there is a little stiff :) so whatever they can do to keep players at there casino and not across the street there are going to do.
As long as I am getting :clover::clover::clover::clover: - the rest is fine with me!

Have you ever noticed there are NO windows either??? so you can't tell what time of day it is...all are dark with no windows.
They had a special on TV about Vegas, and how they design the casino's, and how the big open spaces effect ya...or the closed in spaces other people like.

One more thing - have you ever wondered why it's near impossible to find the exit, or even the elevators to your room? This is exactly why. They want you to keep on playing :)
In regards to the smells, this is really evident at the Palazzo. I can't put my finger on what they're using, but it hits you as soon as you walk in the doors.
btw, the fresh oxygen is a myth...

LOL I would not need smells or anything else to keep me there playing..Vegas is like another world you could get lost in. It is fun to watch others too, to see how they are lost in thier own little world when they are playing.

During my last trip to Atlantic City, I was at Caesars and saw a guy in the high limit room with about $200K in front of him and playing blackjack for about $5-10K a hand....of course he could have been $2M down for all I know...:D

The scent is really evident at the Venetian also. It is pumped in through the ventilation system - and while they don't pump in oxygen per se as far as I know, they do recycle the air through filters and add scent and possibly replenish the oxygen content to the normal level. Used air has less than normal oxygen content and makes you tired and worn out - like in a plane or other place with lots of people breathing. This is not the case in casinos. You don't get that heavy, tired feeling.
Would be interesting to know for sure what they do with the air. But the scent is not coming from the slot machines, lol.

Speaking of scents, they should build a 60's-70's theme casino and pump in synthetic pot smoke....I'd bet they'd get alot of old hippies :D :D :D

That's good one winbig. :joker:
I think they would have a cover-charge at the door to that casino, or not.
Imagine all the food they could sell...
sandwich shops and buffets would make a killing in there, if someone happened to sabotage the synthetic pot smell with the real deal.
