These are some simple steps to take when planning a trip to Las Vegas.
1. Make your plans in advance. Know what places you really want to go as well as where you are wanting to stay. Be sure to check for the best rates possible to save yourself some money.
2. Usally its the summer is the best time to visit Las Vegas, though this is due to the heat, as in the summer Vegas is scorching hot.
3. Keep an eye on the travel sites, these sites will help you to find deals by sending you an email. This can lessen the hassle and headache of finding deals.
4.Watch the flights as some of the lower priced packages dont always accomodate you the customer very well.
5. It is also a good idea to purchase a guidebook or even get one from your local library. This can help you to plan your trip accordingly. Keep an eye on things such as travel magazines, as they will give you a good idea of shows and other events taking place in Vegas and will help you to make your plans as well.

While reading all the things to do in Vegas here in the forums, I think the advice that you gave about knowing what you want to see and do is very good advice.
I'm beginning to think I could live in Vegas and not get to see all the sights there!

Yes there is a great deal of great things to see and do in Las Vegas, which is why it is such a great place to take a vacation or live. Though being prepared before you leave and knowing what it is that you want to see the most on a trip will help you to achieve your goal. Of course its also quite nice to leave a few open slots in your planner for things that catch your eye while you are there.

I still have to visit Fremont street to get pictures of the light show.
And visit MGM, just to see one of the largest casinos in the world along with all of their restaurants and shops. That in itself would be an all day journey.
I would like to have dinner in the castle at Excalibur. It must be a guy thing, but eating with my hands and getting all messy sounds like fun. And watching a jousting match or sword battle, now that's better than watching tv while eating a tv dinner.
I would also like to check out the new Encore just beside the Wynn. I may wander over that way on the next visit to Vegas.

Thanks for the tips, I will be sure to place at least place a dinner at the castle at Excalibur. Sounds like alot of mess but also alot of fun as well.

I have to agree with everything except the part about visiting Vegas in the summer...In July and August, you're looking at 100+ degree temperature 24 hours a day. It never cools off! You could simply be standing still outside and be sweating...
And even though it is a dry heat, this past summer Vegas saw 5-10% humidity which made it near unbearable, from what I understand.
The best time to visit Vegas is either October - November or April - May. The weather is very mild during these months..

I agree 100% with you there winbig......I was there in the summer too...and felt like I was in an Oven!! watched the Treasure Island show on the sidewalk at 11pm and still almost melted!
Vegas is really nice around Christmas time anyway...all the casino's dress up for Christmas..even more pretty lights!
