I cant say that I play roulette, though this is because of the things I have heard about the game.
Most people that either play or have played roulette that I know say that the game is just a waste of time and money.
Its said that its practically impossible to win, and all you do is end up losing your money in attempts to win.
The question that I have is...is all this true?
Should the game of roulette be avoided or is it just that those I know arent good at it or dont have any luck?
Thanks for all your help on this matter.

I think I had mentioned this in one of my posts, of what a team truck driver/friend had done on the roulette wheel on one of our visits to a casino and a couple times after the first visit;
He bought a $100 in chips right in front of me, layed down some of his chips on some numbers, after looking at the number sign that shows the last sever numbers that previously showed up.
He won some money back on the first spin, but lost a little too. He tried it two more times, on the same numbers and quit with double his buy-in amount.
Yes, he walked away with $200!
The other two or three times we had stopped by that casino, he came out with maybe $20 over once and I think he may have lost about that much one time also.
I think you have to know a little about the roulette wheel odds are and which numbers will come up on the wheel before playing it, or just throw you chips out there and hope for the best outcome.
I did notice he liked playing the four corner bets a lot, if that helps some.
You could try playing for free online first and see what works best before trying the real thing. ;)

Wow this games sounds just like alot of chance, I prefer something with a little better odds when it comes to my money. Though I think I will do as you suggest and try it online for free to see what the big deal is. Thanks for the information.

You are welcome queen of hearts.
Playing online isn't as fun as playing at a live table, but it does give you the general feel for the game.
I did try roulette one time a long time ago with $20 in chips and lost them. But I think it is best to stick around and watch a few players first as see how they win.
I guess it's almost like playing cards, you have to get the feel for the game or the feeling of which number will come up next. I'm like that while playing poker sometimes, just get a feeling on which card will come up next or what the other player will have.
I think roulette is one of the biggest gambles in a casino, along with the money wheel. But I would probably do better on a money wheel.

Roulette is a lot more popular in Europe than in the states.
They have different roulette tables too, the odds on a european roullette table are supposed to be different. Something with zeros, but I don't recall exactly what the deal was with that.

The European Roulette has 1 "0" and the American Roulette has a "0" and the "00" added, which gives the casino better odds.

Roulette is not my game either. There is to much chance in that game, and have heard some say the wheel has a magnet to stop it where ever they want to stop it. Not sure if this is true or not, but I for one is not taking the chance.

roulette has the highest house edge against the player. it is the worst game to play if you are expecting to make a profit. the sign that they put up to show previous numbers means nothing. each spin is independant of the last. fun game to play though. can be very social. remember to "play" in a casino and not "gamble" and you will always have a great time...

Great advice. Playing is what we should be doing and if we happen to win that is great. It is all about enjoying the game. Who needs the stress of OMG I just blew my rent money. I don't much care for roulette but I just might give it a try for the fun of it.

I must say that it appears that Roulette isnt going to be the best game for me to play. I think I would be better of sticking to good ole Blackjack and the Slots. Thanks for everyone help with my question.
