I hear that Southwest Airlines will be offering more than 1,600 less seats per day to Las Vegas beginning in November.
They will have twelve less round trips in Vegas. Las Vegas is the hardest hit with Southwest's schedule changes. They have decided to drop 106 flights a day bringing them down to 3,156 a day.
Currently they offer 217 flights per day in and out of Las Vegas.
The end of two of the 12 flights will mean the loss of two nonstop markets for Las Vegas: Long Island’s MacArthur Airport and Norfolk, Va.
Southwest also is eliminating two daily flights between Las Vegas and Salt Lake City, reducing the total number of flights from seven to five, and three flights to and from Southern California.
One round trip each will be eliminated on flights to and from Albuquerque, N.M. (from six flights a day to five); Baltimore-Washington International Airport (from four to three); Buffalo, N.Y. (from two to one); Denver (from nine to eight); Los Angeles International Airport (from 12 to 11); Omaha, Neb. (from three to two); Ontario, Calif. (from eight to seven); and San Diego (from 12 to 11).
Reno-Tahoe International Airport lost six flights in the schedule change with one round trip each eliminated to and from Boise, Idaho; Los Angeles; Oakland, Calif.; Phoenix; Portland, Ore.; and San Jose, Calif.
They are adding 44 flights, mostly to and from Florida destinations.
I wonder if since there is going to be less seats available to and from Las Vegas if ticket prices will go up.
