I've never been able to see Las Vegas in person, but hope to be able to go in the near future. I've seen so many posts here that show the wonderful sights to be seen and things to experience in Vegas.

I'd like some opinions on what you would suggest as to the best hotel to stay in when I go to Vegas........I mean as far as a central location that would enable me to see as many sights as possible. I love to walk and would probably walk to as many sights as I can - but then I've heard the heat is forbidding - so is it even possible to walk to a lot of sites? Or is it preferable to grab a cab or rent a car?

Some tips would really be appreciated!

I see a banner on this page with 75% off on hotels in Vegas. That's a good start.

But I think the central hotels would be Caesar's Palace, Bally's, Paris, Harrah's, Bellagio, the Mirage and the Venetian.

There are several smaller hotels in there too that may be less expensive. Perhaps the Flamingo or the Imperial Palace.

These are all somewhat centralized on the strip.

Thanks for the info, VegasLuvsMe. I do appreciate the help. How about the heat - is it so extreme that a person can't walk around looking at the sights?

the heat is bad in the summer months....jun - aug.

when i have gone during the fall and spring months it's not too bad...We were there in Nov...didn't even need jacket...I just wore long sleeves at night...and it was really nice.

As suggested above...if you get a place around bally's...that is pretty central location...you can walk just about everywhere from there.

if you stay at harrah's, bally's or one of the other harrah's properties...they have free shuttles to the Rio hotel...as well as other harrah's properties.

Treasure island has a shuttle train going from TI to Mirage, and there is another tram type thing going around one side of strip...
and there is a double decker public bus you can take for just a few $ a day...if you can't find free transport.

so if you play your cards right you can get around vegas without spending fortune on cabs.
