Now that the airlines are starting to charge for extra bags and so on, I just thought I would mention the fact, that when I got to Vegas last April, I found that I didnt really need everything that I had taken with me.
I could have cut down on the amount of clothes I took for one thing, and should have packed more for comfort than I had as Las Vegas can be very hot when you are out walking around.
Also, besides my preference in shampoo and toothpaste, and moisturizer, everything else that a person may need is right there in your room at your hotel, so taking that into consideration can cut down on space taken up in your suitcase and the weight of that suitcase.
Also, in retrospect, I could have completely done away with my carryon. It was just a matter of convenience and there wasnt anything in it that I couldnt have put in my suitcase to begin with.
At any rate, my next trip out will find me packing lighter, and doing away with my carry on completely.

You can do away with the Carry on....IF you don't have a laptop...LOL
there are a few things that you should carry on the plane with you...as the airlines will NOT replace if put in your check in bag....like
laptop
camera
jewerly
Money
they will not cover those things either way...but if you have them with you at all times, you can only blame yourself when you loose them (I lost $500 camera, and it was my own fault...still sore over that one)
The biggest thing I found I always need in vegas (due to dry air) is...
lip balm
lotion (which some hotels have in room)

Very True Veagsnut.. Each time I go to Vegas I pack lighter and lighter..And yes it is very important to have walking shoes. You sure will do a lot of walking. there is nothing worse than wearing shoes that hurt your feet. That could spoil your whole trip..LOL

Lately the airlines charge for bags, so if you can take a carryon and a "biiig handbag" you can save some money there.

All good things to remember for my next trip to Vegas.
I usually end up with 2 or 3 days worth of clean clothing left in my suitcase when I get home from Vegas trips.
I can leave out a couple pants and a few shirts for my next trip.
That would save me from having to move a couple extra pounds around, while pulling the suitcase a half mile to checkout when it come time to leave.

I found that everythiung that I did take was used, exception was my hair dryer, which was supplied in the rooms. I did feell better about having a carry on, just in case that one time the luggage doesn't go with you-niuce ti have clean ones!

Also keep in mind that a laptop and/or camera (like with a shoulder strap) don't count as a carry on item....so you can take those on board in addition to two carry on bags...
Just don't try to put them in the overhead compartments. :)
One more thing.....
Everybody and their brother is pushing the carry on limits to the MAX! Do everything you can to get on board as soon as they call your section...if you're not in front, or close to the front of the line, chances are there won't be any place to stow your carry on bags, and if they won't fit under the seats, then you're going to be stuck checking them after all (Once you're on the plane, it's free, as long as there's no more room to put your bags).
