I haven't a single clue about this game other than it's name. So, being the curious person that I am I did a little digging.
According to Wikipedia, Baccarat is a card game with only three possible outcomes, 'Player', 'Banker' and 'Tie'. It is a game of chance. Whatever happens is determined by the cards you are dealt.
The cards in this game have different values. Cards 2-9 are face value. Cards 10, J, Q, and K are worth zero and Aces are worth one point.
In Baccarat, you add up the values of your cards and then drop the tens digit. In example, if you have a 3 and a 4 your score is seven. If you have a 5 and a 7 your score is 2 because you drop the one in the tens place. Any hand that equals 10 is worth zero and is called Baccarat.
Wow, the more I read about this the more confused I am lol! Can anyone simplify this for Baccarat newbies like me lol???

Baccarat is a great game. and very easy to play, but its a big money game.
Usually in the land based casinos Baccarat has its own room.
To play, is simple...you either bet on
1. player
2. bank
or
3 tie.
you do not get any cards. there are two players. the bank and a player which the dealer plays for both. you bet on who will get the higher hand.
if you bet the player will get the highest hand...[ they recieve only two cards each] and your right you win back your bet doubled
if you bet the bank will get the highest hand, and your right, you win double your bet, minus 15% that goes to the bank.
If you bet they will tie....you win 9 times your bet! You can win some huge amounts of cash on this bet. and it happens way more often than you think.
The highest hand is 9. so if the player or the bank has say...a 10 and a 9
they add them together which is 19... then they add 1 + 9 which equals 10...then they add 1 + 0 = 1. so thier score is 1.
I hope i explained this game good enough, if not, just ask away!

This is one of the most popular games in Europe, along with Roulette.
It's easy and fun.

if you bet the bank will get the highest hand, and your right, you win double your bet, minus 15% that goes to the bank.
I think the commission on winning banker hands is only 5%.
Great explanation!
Here are some of the odds thanks to the Wizard of Odds: (based on 8 decks)
Banker Bets - 1.06% house edge
Player Bets - 1.24% house edge
Tie Bet - 14.36% house edge
House edge is basically the percentage of lose one can expect from an initial bet.
So betting $10 on the banker you will lose (on average) 10 cents. The player - 12 cents and the tie bet - $1.44. Of course making the tie bet the worse of the three.

Wow, thank you guys, I definitely did not have a very good understanding before but now I have a clue. It makes more sense to me. I can see how this would be a big money game. Thanks to all for the great info!

I play Baccarat online in play mode all the time, and i love betting on the "tie". It comes up way more often than you would think, and it pays soooo good!
But, who knows, maybe if i was betting with real money i would never get that "tie" bet!
