The Las Vegas Monorail will be running full steam ahead come New Years Eve to provide safe transportation for everyone as the strip will be completely shut down.

The cost of the ride is $5 for a single ride, $12 for the Unlimited Ride Day Pass and a $28 Unlimited Ride Three-Day Pass.

Trains arrive every few minutes so there is almost no waiting. They have seven stops along the strip and they are offering non-stop service until 3 am.

As several hundred thousand revelers ring in 2011 in true Las Vegas style, the Las Vegas Monorail will be moving partygoers along the world-famous Strip while the road is closed to vehicles and buses on New Year's Eve. In 15 minutes or less, Monorail riders will reach their New Year’s Eve destinations in a safe, clean and hassle-free environment.

“Visitors can use the Monorail to travel to and from their hotel, their show or dinner reservations, or to their favorite hot spots without worrying about getting stuck when the Strip closes to vehicles,” said Ingrid Reisman, vice president of corporate communications for the Las Vegas Monorail Company. “We’re open to help revelers spend more time celebrating the best party in America, and less time traveling.”

So if you are headed out to one of the biggest parties ever- New Years in Vegas, then get yourself a pass so that you know you have safe and reliable transportation for the night!!!

I have always thought it was great that Vegas shuts down their strip to traffic for this big holiday. Safety does seem to be tops on Vegas' safety agenda.

The price for rides on the monorail are also great. And no worries about how to get between one place and the other while having a great time.

You got that right IluvVegas. Although I've never tried the Las Vegas monorail, it's got to be one of the safest modes of travel in Vegas.

Another thing I thought of as a good use of the monorail, is when you have too much to drink and your car is sitting in one of the parking lots.

I guess a taxi would be a good way to travel to your Las Vegas home too, but to get out of the city during the holiday, the monorail is probably the safest way to travel.

Everyone will be having a great time, most people drinking. With the norml traffic on the street what a disaster that would be or at least could be. It's awesome that they shut down the street and that the prices are so good. Hopefully everyone take an advantage of it and stays safe.
