Like with any large city there is always a criminal element. Though there are ways to help protect yourself, and here are a few that I hope you will find useful on your next trip to Las Vegas.

Always keep an eye on your purse or wallet. Those who are distracted by the glitz and glamour of Vegas are easy targets for pick-pockets.

Never keep large amounts of cash in your hotel room or fine jewerly. Keep these items in the hotel safe which is usally offered as a free service. Keeping a small amount of money locked in your suitcase in your hotel is an ok idea as most hotel employees are honest.

Make sure that then you are in the airport, hotel or casino lobby that you keep your belonging in front of you at all times. Theives just love these crowded areas, and it only takes a split second for your luggage or other belongings to disappear into the crowd. Give yourself plenty of time so that you are never distracted by being late.

When walking in Las Vegas be sure to always use the cross walks. Jay walking in Las Vegas carries a $95.00 fine. Also be sure that you wait for the walk sign as locals tend to fly down the streets.

Also make sure that you have ID which has your current address, photo, and social security number on it. Though do not carry this information around with you as if it is lost you could become a victim of identy theft. Instead keep this information locked in your hotel suitcase. This information is needed if you find yourself lucky and win big. Casinos usally are quite happy to hold your winnings til you retrieve the needed ID.

These are just a few tips, though I do hope that on your next trip to wonderful Vegas they will come in handy for you.

This is true Dorisj2, though with most ID cards you can choose to have your social security number put onto it or not. So if you are planning on going to vegas maybe you can have that removed from your ID to help protect yourself.

You must have an ID to claim any big jackpots too...any win that requires a human payout. You always need to keep your ID on you when playing in a casino.....even to get onto the plane you need ID....
