What is best to do on first trip?

For those who have never been to Las Vegas, what is recommended to see their first trip. I know what there are just so many things to see, do and to try, but not all can be fit into a short vacation.

Can anyone make some recommendations as to what would be good to see on the first trip?

I know that on my first trip I want to see the grand canyon, but I know that there is so much more to Vegas than that.
Any tips that any one can give sure would be appreciated in helping to make the Vegas plans.

I am one person who hasnt been to Vegas yet, key word there is yet, and I like to plan things out so I know exactly what I will be doing. Though there are just so many things to see and do there that I am losing my mind trying to figure out what is best to do on my first trip.
