I have a question about winning and payouts in Las Vegas. If I were to win how would I be paid? Do they give you cash or a check?
I certainly would like to win big but I don't want to carry around a large sum of cash. I am also sure that I would not want to carry a check either but I could drop it right into my account.
Do you have the option to have them do that for you. Like an EBT transaction? This would be much easier and I would feel safer knowing that it was already there.

They usually pay in cash unless it's a really big win, like in the thousands. It would be in check form then.
You know; your picture taken with you holding the big check, and sometimes at the machine you won it at.
It's a Casino promotional thing when they take your picture.
Plus a lot of people get all hiped up about it and blog it, adding to the casino's promotional thoughts.
I don't think they have any connections with banks in the casinos, other than withdrawal machines inside, it would get too corrupt by giving inside people a chance to skim-off cash.
dont know exactly what the limit is but you can always have cash if you want it. when playing $5 vp i have taken 20k payouts in cash before. you can always take a check and mail it home if you are concerned about playing it back. they will gladly cash the check they just gave you. lol. if you travel there often you can also leave it in a safety deposit box right in the casino. i have one at caesars palace or you can just give it to the cage and take a receipt thus giving you a pre-paid line of credit. i have a few of those scatterd throughout town. if you belong to bank of america they are all over in vegas.

I'm not sure of the particulars, but I know for a fact that if you're staying at any of the casinos, you can take any cash you want to keep safe down to the 'cage' and have them hold it for you. Then, you can use them as a 'bank' to go and withdrawal money as you need it.
I ran into this situation during my trip back in December '07. I was winning thousands of dollars when all was said and done, and there was no way I was going to keep that kind of cash in the safe in my room; especially when they will only 'insure' valuables left in there up to $500 or so.
All you would need to do is go to the cashier and tell them you're staying at the hotel and want them to hold your money and they'll help you out.
OH, and in regards to ACH/Wire transfers - unless you wire the casino money directly from your bank to gamble with, they will NOT wire/ACH any winnings to your bank. I asked about that, and was told that it was a law/regulation that casinos have to follow. I'm assuming they have that rule in place because of possible money laundering.
Also, don't forget that if you bank with a national chain of banks, it's quite possible that they have a local branch in Las Vegas. I was able to catch a cab from the casino to a Vegas branch of Bank of America and deposit my money before I left town. I had no intention of trying to explain why I was carrying approx $6,000 through airport security..nor take the risk of getting robbed.
Also, there's places on the strip that offer Western Union services. Another tip would be to use this (not sure how much the fees would be) to wire the money to a family member or someone you trust, if it's a considerable amount of money...

good point about western union. you can always wire it to yourself but i'm pretty sure there are limits. las airport is pretty good with large amounts of money as is any airport you originate from. show security your destination and they wont make a fuss. if fly out of ewr and fll to vegas alot. no problem with large amounts. travelers checks from your bank are always a good option to keep the "bulk" down. lol

To be honest, I seriously doubt I'd ever deposit several thousand dollars in an ATM and trust it to get to my account. I'd go to the bank and deposit via teller, if anything. :)

win bank of america is great with atm deposits. no envelope. if it is a check it is scanned and a copy is provided. if it is cash it counts the individual bills and provides a breakdown on the reciept. it is the only way i deposit with that bank. i wish they were all that way......

Thanks for clearing that up 1819, about the casinos paying out in cash with large winnings. See where assumption gets me?
It is good to have a veteran gambler in here to keep us updated on how things work in the real world of gambling.
If I ever get a large enough winning in Vegas, I will just deposit it in on my BofA card at their local bank, or find a Wells Fargo in town.
I may even try travelers checks, since I have used them in the past.
But first, I will have to hit the big one before I get too deep in the cash options.
