For those making their first trip to Las Vegas, I believe that some input here about tipping may be in order.
Who do you tip and how much do you tip that person?
These may be some facts that some one could use. Dominique, do you have any hints on the subject?

Well, you tip in restaurants as usual. You tip the cab driver 10% to 15%.
It tends to be a good idea to tip your maids at the hotel - and it's best to tip them a little every day, not a lot on the last day. If you tip early, you get top service. Make sure you leave the tip on a piece of paper saying: "Thank you, housekeeping" or they won't touch your money.
Room service waitors get tipped automatically in the bill, or the bill has a spot where you write in the tip. They still prefer a little cash...
The luggage delivery guys will expect a tip, but they also expect to work for it by putting your luggage exactly where you want, getting you ice, and explaining room features. Don't be afraid to ask for these things if they don't offer.
The guys who call your Taxi and help you into the car also expect a small tip.
If you ask for special services at the hotel, such as a fridge in your room, or a humidifier or whatever, the person delivering it expects a small tip.
And if you have a party in your room and leave a big mess, you need to leave a tip too.

Here are some suggested tips for you as well:
Bartenders, per round $1 up to four people
Bellmen, $2 to $5
Bingo- keno runners, $1 occasionally
Change clerk, give a few coins if you win
Cocktail waitress, same are bartenders
Dealers, can be tipped between hands, from $1 to half the bet
Maids $1 per day, left at the end of the stay
Taxicabs or shuttles, 15% of fare
Valet parking, $1 to $2
please remember to tip the person who hand pays you. also security if they escort you to your room. when busy give the cocktail girl a nice tip up front. this will assure priority service.

Great advice!
Dealers - Be careful here. In poker - I will tip the dealers $1 only if you win enough in the pot to justify it. So if you win little more than the blinds after checking down a hand, I don't tip. No need in losing money because you think it is proper to tip.
If you are allowed to place a bet for the dealer (like craps or blackjack) I do that then tip at the end $2 to $5 bucks. Most casinos tip share so all the tips go into a pile and they split them up between all dealers on that shift.
I have to go with Dominique on the maids. Tip a couple bucks the first day then a little everyday. You might be surprised the service you get.

That is a good thing, tipping. Dominique has good advice about tipping the room maids.
I generally try to leave a few dollars on the first day. If my wife needs extra towels or pillows we will try to ask the maids personally, if not I will call room service or housekeeping.
The reason for making a phone call to house keeping is if you cannot talk to the maids personally. Many of the maids in the Vegas hotels are Spanish and they may not know how to read notes you write to them, if you need extra towels and such.
