Because I have a huge fear of flying, I will be driving with my other half to Las Vegas when I do go. He keeps trying to get me to fly, but sorry I just cant do it,LOL.
I just looked and found out that from our home it is going to take us 32 hours and 32 minutes to reach Las Vegas. That is one heck of a long drive. Though I am sure that when we stop at a hotel we are going to have alot of fun and of course there are plenty of sites to see while we are driving.
Though I will be sure to pack snacks, drinks and other things that we will or may need for our long drive. Either that or I will tell him to fly while I drive there. I just dont see me ever getting on board of an airplane, unless I am knocked out before I board the plane,LOL.
I have never flown before, but I just never see myself even trying. I would rather die on earth rather than having to fall from the sky before dieing,LOL.
I have such a positive attitude dont I ?LOL

Flying isn't so bad. I used to be afraid but I would rather fly than drive any day.
I almost had two accidents in one day within twenty miles of my home. Let me get my self to the slot machines as quickly as possible lol.
There are of course many sites to see along the way and driving is the best way to go for that.
You have to give yourself some time to do all that sightseeing though. A couple of weeks if you really want to take them all in. Have fun and enjoy your trip.

I have never flown before either and I am scared to do it! I went to Texas about nine years ago and we drove. That was a long drive! I am sure I would prefer to fly if I could ever just get up enough nerve to do it for the first time. I am not one who likes to drive around in a car. I am too antsy lol.
i have millions of miles on planes. when i say millions im not kidding. i feel safer on the plane than in the car on the drive to the airport. i have flown with folks who are not comfortable but you cant call it a real fear unless you try it. 32 hours in a car? breakdowns, flats, detours, gridlock? bite the bullet and take to the sky. the few hours in the air will pass as im sure you will be so excited to get there you wont have time to be afraid. dont miss out on a wonderful time because of something so silly. im not making light of peoples fear of flying but most people who are so hesitant kick themselves for being afraid when the flight is over

I've only gotten in about 20 or 30 thousand air miles in my life and I still have a small fear of flying at times.
It usually goes away once you're in the air. Very comfy in the air, and sometimes you can't tell your flying, until you look out the window.
I like to look out the window and see the topographical view of the different states we pass over.
A real beautiful site in a plane.
It calms my nerves as I take in all the beauty our earth has to offer. :)

Not me!! I had rather fly anyday...I hate long drives. You so tired when you get there you don;t feel like doing anything. Flying is the only way to travel any distance.

I was afraid of flying from 1991 to 2007, but an opportunity to fly to Vegas cured that up real quick. :D
If I can swing it financially, I want to take a road trip to Vegas (from PA) next year. I want to take a month in total (a week there, the rest traveling) and just see the country. Hopefully gas prices won't spike to over $3/gallon again, or else this won't be possible...I get close to 30mpg on the highway, so it shouldn't be too bad...I figure 100 gallons each way..

winbig, videoslots and myself should get together sometime and make the drive to Vegas. This way we can see all the beautiful sites and of course avoid the idea of flying completely.
I just dont ever see myself flying anywhere at all. I would rather keep my rear on earth where it belongs. I strongly feel that if God ment for us to fly he would have given us wings, LOL.
I will just stick to driving where I need to go and enjoy all of the beauty of nature that way.
I will be taking my sweeties Explorer on my trip to vegas because it is comfortable and it does get great gas mileage. I believe it gets like 35 - 40 mpg. Which will be a great savings when it comes to filling up. It also of course has alot of space for all my luggage and other items that will be needed for my trip. As for breakdowns I am not worried about, because my sweetie is a mechanic so the SUV will be throughly checked out before my trip.
I will however be in a hurry to get to Las Vegas though he already knows that on the return trip I will be taking my time and making many stops along the way to sightsee as much as possible. I will be taking about a month for my trip. At least this is the plan so far.

Ok, I had to do a mapquest to see how long it would take me and it was 29 hours and some.
I don't know that I could do that long in a car just to go one place now if I have weeks to spend and stop all along the way that might be a different thing altogether.

Hi Ally....29 hours isn't that bad at all! I've done 13 hour stretches straight through from here in PA to southern Indiana to visit my family, which wasn't that rough..
I used to have a friend that lived in Knoxville, but we've lost touch....small world!
Maybe we could all get together and run a caravan out to Vegas? Since I'm on the East coast, I'd be the first leg and meet up with everyone wherever they are...lol
I think that would be awesome....and if we all decided just to hit the rest stops instead of staying in Hotels along the way, it'd be much safer in numbers...
I was thinking along the lines of early fall (Early to late September) next year....
