You gotta see this guy bet his life time savings on roulette.
YouTube - Betting your whole life on one roulette spin
Turns out to be an advertising video, but the bet sure looks real.

i am glad that this was just an advertisement, but I have heard through the years that people really do things like this. I have also heard that people have gone to Vegas and put up their car titles and deeds to their homes and lost both. Is this true?

Oh, I think he really did that. Not sure if it was all his money though, lol.
Huge bets in roulette on either black or red are not that uncommon. You have a 50/50 chance of winning. A lot of people will take that chance.
Many people who reach the end of their budget will go and wager the remainder on roulette black or red bets, it's double or nothing. You can try it with your last ten bucks sometime. I wouldn't recomment betting anything ever that you can't afford to lose. Gambling is entertainment, and you pay for it. Yes, you might get lucky but probably not.
People putting up their houses or cars are very rare and they are sick. They have an addiction and need to go for treatment or they go the way all addicts go - down til they hit rock bottom.
Thankfully, treatment for those who suffer from a gambling addiction is usually free and it works almost all the time. It's only a mental addiction and not a physical one, most addictions are both mental and physical. So gambling addicts can thank god for that.
But the guy in this roulette bet wasn't an addict - he decided to go for double or nothing, won, took his money and left.

This reminds me of the 'reality' show FOX was going to do....Did they ever go through with that, or is it still in the works? Basically someone would sell off all of their possessions, go to Vegas, and place everything on Red or Black..
