Personally I love roller skating, but Roller Derby's I dont think I could handle. Some of these people are hard core skaters!

I also thought that this little clip might help those who dont know much about Roller Derbys understand them a little better

I think the roller derby games started back sometime in the early 70's.

That's when I first noticed them on the tv as a teenager.

And as one of my favorite shows to watch, the Roller Derby.

With it I also like to watch tag-team wrestling and the late-night scarey shows on weekends.

OMG I love to rollerskate! I wouldn't want to be in a competition though, maybe in my younger days. Now I would probably be in the middle of the rink on my tush watching everyone skate circles around me lol. I can see it now!!!

I just looked it up too, and the "term" roller derby dates back to 1922.

But the roller races date back (according to New York Times) to 1885 and again in 1914 as banked track marathon races.

I just remember it being a big thing on the television in the 70's.
It was funny and exilerating for me to watch at the time.

It's almost like boxing and self-defence on roller skates as a form of sport these days.
