Faraz Jaka's run at WPT Player of the Year
The San Jose native finished second at the Bellagio Cup this past summer and third at the December's Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic, moving him into the lead in the World Poker Tour's Player of this Year's race.
Monday, with several players still in the hunt for Player of the Year, Jaka pushed himself into a spot among the leaders on Day 2 of the WPT World Championship and now looks primed for the deep run.
Registration closed at the start of the event's ninth level, bringing the total entrants up to 195. A total of 18 places will be paid from a $4.7 million prize pool, that includes $1,530,537 for first.
