The only way I can think of making free money at a poker room is by playing in freerolls.

That's what I do, but it's not easy making it to the money table unless you're good at online poker.
There are thousands of poker players going for the same money and you'll have to play several hours. Usually there are two poker tournaments before you get to the money tourneys.

Give PokerStars a try. They have poker freeroll tournaments about every hour and all kinds of free poker games.

I hope this helps you betsfreebets.

Poker game is played between the players and every player holds a combination of cards where the other player assumes himself of having the highest rank of combination and starts betting towards other players. When the other players accept the rank of the betting player, then the money in the pot is provided to the player who started to bet. The important thing in the poker game is a player can have the highest rank or bluff the other players.

You may also wan to consider a site like Bodog Poker, where there are tons of articles and tutorials to help hone your skills. Bodog is also leisure-player friendly as they actively screen against third-party applications that identify, catalog, and note player activity so that professional players can take advantage of those online poker players with less experience.

I do agree with the above--you can't beat PokerStars for tournament selection and FullTilt has an amazing selection of freerolls, as does PDC Poker. The least effective thing you can do is not try at all, and freeroll tournaments let you leave it all on the table with no harm done.

I know what you mean WhatHappensInVegas. I've played at all of the poker sites you've mentioned and I think Full Tilt poker has quite a few games to choose from too.

I've only played at Bodog poker a few times and like their poker software.
Most of the poker games I play are freerolls or play money sit-n-gos.

Whenever I do play poker for real money it's usually at a live poker table in Las Vegas.

Something I forgot to mention about PokerStars is their new Home Games feature where you can actually set up private virtual poker games with friends from all over the world. The first time I saw this, I thought--GENIUS--what a great way to reconnect with my college roommates, play a game I know we all love, and not worry about who was drinking all of my favorite beer?

Because it's a new feature, PokerStars has an extensive tutorial set up to walk you through the basics of getting the game together, inviting friends, and customizing the game experience. It's kind of like a Fantasy Football league, in a way--you can determine how things are scored, how tournaments work, etc.

This would be a great way for players who are new to online cash poker to get their feet wet, as long as they don't mind potentially losing money to friends!

I saw a Poker Stars tv commercial this past weekend about the same thing you mentioned WhatHappensInVegas.

Actually, I've seen the commercial about Poker Stars' "Home Games" feature several times in the past month or so.

On occasion I will to watch the WSOP or WPT championships when I come across them on the tv channels.

And sometimes get lucky enough to see High Stakes poker, which is usually seen on the weekends.

This past weekend I got to see Doyle Brunson as he schooled a newbie at the high stakes table... Loved it.

Same here, I'm also new to this game poker, I just learned this game from my friend who is a casino gambler. I really appreciated that he teaches me on how to play this because I enjoyed it so much, I met so many friends and also it's for my relaxation when I got bored at home.

I agree with you Sigmundsten20, it is a very relaxing game unless you the type of person who takes their games way to seriously.

I like to play with friends and family when possible, though I have been playing it online when I find the time.

I don't know how people manage to play it professionally though they do. They amaze me. I will never be as good as any of them though I do hope to improve enough to the point where I am winning a bit more than I have been.

I wish you the best of luck Sigmundsten20 and everyone else trying to learn this game and become better at it!!!

Speaking of poker... the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) is heading to Washington D.C. next week to talk to the lawmakers about online poker play in the US.

I use to play in freerolls to try to have a chance at a WSOP table, but that idea was shot down when the DOJ shut down those online poker sites that I played freerolls at.

Oh, I can play the free money tables, but no more freerolls that envolve money stakes. What a crock...!
