Default The strategy basics

The craps table is oblong, and the shooters stand at one of the narrow ends, and they throw the dice to the other side. The rules say that when you "come out" if you roll a 7 or 11, you win. If you roll a 2,3, or 12 you lose.

Any other number becomes your "point" and you throw until you hit that number, whereby you win, or a 7 whereby you lose.

The object of the game is to win, for the player and the only way you stand a chance of winning is by not placing stupid bets. They are the bets that are in the center of the table right in front of the stick person. All you should have to do is look at the odds on the bets that should tell you they are bad bets to make! Watch the table and see what points are being made, they say that the 6 and 8 are the best bets to make on the table, but this does not always hold true, if no one is making the 6 or 8 do not bet on them. Bet on the points that are being made if you see that everyone is making say the 5 or 10 then bet on them.

You do not need a line bet if you do not have the dice in your hands, don’t bet it. That bet only pays even money and you don’t want to be paid even money on any bet, I know the books all say that a pass line bet is the best bet in the casino but if you think about it you will find out it’s not! The pass line bet is a contract bet that has to stay up till it wins or loses. Where if you just placed a point you can turn it off or take it down any time that you want to, and they do not pay even money.

Place your point for more that one unit. That way if you win on your bet you can regress the bet down. A $10 bet on the 5 will pay you $14 regress your bet down to $5 you get back $9 + you now have a $5 bet still on the 5. If the 5 his again take the pay of $7 or you can that the bet down and get the $12. Now if everybody has been getting good rolls and you decide to keep you $5 bet up on the 5 on the next hit press the bet to $10, take the $2 profit from that bet and put it in your chip rack.

If you want to get some what aggressive and leave your bet up press it up one unit with every hit you get and at the same time pull your profit off the table with every hit.

Remember all the bets the stickman is trying to sell are bad bets, don’t bet them. The longer your bets stay up the more likely the 7 out is going to get you, don’t get greedy.
Place only two or one place bets to start out with if you know nothing about the game.

Don’t just walk up to a table and buy-in watch it for a while and see if the shooters are getting passed 8 rolls of the dice and you should have fun, and be able to make some money. Greed will get you every time, the casinos count on it!

Buy a good book on the game of craps, and read it before you ever set foot in a casino!
Don’t buy any system that someone is selling!

I hope this will help you out!

Wow you have shared with us some really useful information here. It sounds like you enjoy hitting the craps tables when possible.

I have tried to learn how to play craps, however I have also discovered in the learning process that craps just isn't the game for me.

I do watch others play, but I guess I am more of a blackjack player and one to sit at the slot machines for hours at a time.

Though with the information that you have given I may just have to give it a whirl and try my luck once again at the game. Who knows maybe things will turn around for me.

May I ask how long you have been playing craps to become so informative about the game. I bet it takes a long time to know all of that!!

Either way I am glad that you shared your knowledge with everyone here and maybe I won't be the only one to benefit from it.

Good Luck.....
