Default 18 Filed for Las vegas Mayor's Seat

A record 18 people filed to run for mayor of Las Vegas. According to the city clerks office, the only time there was a mayors race close to this size was back in 1991 when 13 people filed for the seat.

The April 5th Primary election will wipe that number down to two. Those two will go on campaigning until the general election in June.

I heard while there are a few front runners, it;s still really anyone's game.

Quote:
Carolyn Goodman, wife of departing Mayor Oscar Goodman and a leading citizen in her own right, starts at the top of the field, as do Chris Giunchigliani, county commissioner and former legislator, and Larry Brown, county commissioner and former city councilman. Steve Ross, a sitting councilman, also has a leg up over most of the candidates in the race.
According to some Las Vegas citizens, they are more willing to vote for a businessman rather than a politician. They say they need someone who knows how to bring in industry and create jobs.
