William Weidner was pretty much forced out of his position as president and chief operating officer earlier this week from what I read and as a result of that James Purcell resigned his position.
From what I read I guess there has been a good bit of turmoil in the Sands boardroom lately and this has just added to it.
Here is what Purcell had to say about the situation.

"It was, in my judgment, wrong to engage in discussions with Weidner to request his resignation without a full and open discussion of the potential consequences of the series of actions that were planned,'' Purcell wrote. "No business enterprise should undertake the significant actions that have been and are proposed to be taken ... without a full meeting of the board.''

He went on to say that he is sad to go and that it will cause consequences beyond his control but that he feels management has not shown respect to all concerned.
I wonder what all of this will mean for the company. If there will be any consequences.
