Default Fire at Bally's Sends Patrons Running

Oh my! I just read that there was a fire at Bally's in Las Vegas. I believe it happened today.

Apparently patrons were evacuated.

In the end it was a mattress that was on fire in one of the hotel rooms and the sprinkler system actually put it out on it's own. Thank goodness for that.

The street was completely blocked off for a time with all of the fire departments responding.

The fire was on the 25th floor. They have not yet determined what caused the fire.

I am thinking probably a lit cigarette but thats just my guess.

I didn't know this but there was a fire in the past I think in the same building that took a lot of lives. Very sad.

You can read the whole thing here...

The first thing I thought of when I read the title of this thread, was, "Oh no, not again."

I read about the first fire that happened in 1980 when MGM use to own the now Bally's property.
And with my first stay at Bally's several years ago that was one thing that was on my mind.

Las Vegas hotel casinos have come a long way since then. And after reading the "Bally's Fire" article you will know why; their automated sprinkler system put out the fire.

I'm just glad nobody got hurt and the damage was minimal. The Monte Carlo hotel wasn't that lucky with their roof fire two or three years ago.

It's good to know the Las Vegas Fire Department is one of the best on tall structure fires. Kudos to the Las Vegas Firemen.

It is extremely fortunate that the sprinkler system handled the fire on its own and that it didnt spread to any other rooms or floor.

I also understand that Las Vegas fire departments are great on the tall structure fires and that is a real plus in a city that has so many tall hotels and other buildings in it.

My hat goes off to the designers of great sprinkler systems and kudos also to the fire departments for their excellent work.

In the article I believe it said that Las vegas Firefighters have become the best in the world at fighting high rise fires. That certainly gives peace of mind. Kudos to the sprinkler system and the men and women who train to do this kind of work, not just in Vegas but everywhere. I don't think they get recognized enough!
