Default Fire at the Stratosphere.

There was a small fire friday in a guest room. The room was empty at the time as the guests had already checked out.

The floor was evacuated for about 45 minutes and there was only light smoke.

The cause of the fire is apparently due to careless smoking. I am a smoker and this really makes me angry.

It is this kind of behavior that causes so many places to ban smoking. I don't mind having to go outside to smoke but it can be an issue depending on the weather.

I guess these people ended up leaving a cigarette burning and it caught some towels on fire. This is also the reason for the fire safe cigarettes that we are suddenly getting more often than not.

If your a smoker be responsible. Put it out and check to make sure it is out. Don't push your smoke on others and don't ruin it for everyone else.

Wow, something similar just happened in a Vegas hotel a few months back. I can't remember which hotel but the guests had thrown a cigarette butt into the trash can and then left. I imagine they thought that it was out but it started a small fire and there was smoke damage.

Goofs like these really make it difficult for responsible smokers. I am glad that there was only minor damage in these incidents and that no one was injured. Hopefully those who decided to leave a cigarette burning even if on accident are held responsible for all damages.

I am a smoker and I have better sense to make sure that all of my cigarettes are extinguished before I walk away from them.
