Default Gambling Indictment Case in Vegas

Man is this guy in some hot water right now....

Terrance "Terry" Watanabe of Nebraska may be indicted for feloney theft and bad checks in a case that is to be before the Grand Jury.

He allegedly wrote bad checks at two casinos and owes them a total of $14.75 million in gambling debts. He owes the Rio and Caesars.

Watanbe's lawyer is asking to be allowed to present evidence that he does not owe the money to the casinos. He is currently out on $1.5 million bail pending a resolution to the charges he faces.

He is facing probation or even 16 years in prison.

The D.A. will be seeking the indictment this week.

The only people I feel sorry for here are his casino hosts. Don't they get paid on commission? If so, they won't see a penny for any of the work they've put to use during his trips.

I love his last name...it's too close to be "wantabe"...just like what he is....a wannabe.

I am going to keep up with this story. That is crazy. That is a whopping amount of money. I wonder if he is guilty. Not only that, how was he able to cash those checks? Don't they check out the bank if it is alot of money? If not the casinos should make that a new policy.

IMO, casinos just don't ask whales as big as that if their check is good or not...and don't find out they're bad until it's too late...

although what he did was obviously a crime and obviously wrong the casinos are not out any money. he drew on a line of credit and lost the money back to the casinos. he gambled with their money now he owes but they did get their stake money back...

win when you sign a marker it is the same as signing a check. when they say "check" im sure they just mean marker. when a line of credit is given your financial resources are checked out. they dont make you pay the money back right away. im sure as soon as he lost all the money he emptied that account and stashed the cash elsewhere.

with the casinos suffering a bit more hosts are reaching out for business so even a little play may get someone noticed. usually these are entry level hosts fishing for some clients. i have property hosts who will take care of all i need. when i plan a trip i just give them a call and they handle my reservations, dinner plans, fight tix, golf reservations, etc... i'm easy to please and dont ask for much. the nicest thing my onsite hosts do for me is check me in. they are probably not allowed to do this but always do in a.c. and vegas. no credit card deposit or nothing. when i walk in they just hand me my room keys. i was at a dinner with an exec and my gf one night and i happen to have on the same watch as the guy. it started a watch conversation. he asked why my gf did not have a watch on and she replied that she is not a big watch person. the next day a bellman came to my door with a box and a note. the note said "give this to your girl. you owe me a box of cigars". it was a rolex presidential. very nice gesture.

But seriously, I may switch from giving my action to Harrah's. I've been at the Platinum level going on 3 years straight now, and during my last visit to AC, I racked up about 2,800 base points during a 16 hour straight blackjack session (10 of which were spent in the high limit room), which was only 200 points shy of an immediate upgrade to Diamond level. Sure, I get the free room and free tournament invitations all the time, but honestly, I don't think that's enough for the play I give them. I'm not a high roller by any means, but I rarely play anywhere else and that should count for something. I had asked a couple of times in the past about getting a host, but their attitude was "Don't call us, we'll call you."

I have a feeling that they don't care, because the most I've dropped of my own money in one shot is $2,000 during a trip, and that's rare. I usually only take about a $300-$500 bankroll with me when I do head to the casino.
