Default Surgical mistake ruins womans life

A mistake made by a surgeon has permanently scarred a woman in Las Vegas for the rest of her life. One woman is sueing St. Rose Dominican Hospitals after an unnecessary procedure was performed in 2008. Rosie Powell went to St. Rose to have colostomy bag removed and came out with a missing kidney.

Powell figured that when she went into the hospital that she would come out with her freedom back. Unfortunatly she was denied this by a surgeon that aparently didnt pay attention in anatomy class. Powell had a condition in which one of her kidneys wasnt in the normal place and instead was in her abdomin. Her kidney was completely healthy and had no reason to be removed.

Powell's surgeons couldn't identify what they thought was a tumor so they removed it and sent it for testing. They thought it was cancerous but was actually her kidney. Powell woke up after surgery to the doctor telling her they were sorry they thought the kidney was cancer. Powell is diabetic and because of this her kidneys were already under hirer risk of problems. Now she only has one kidney to hope has no problems.

This wasnt the only problem she had with the surgery. The doctors also didnt stitch up the incision at the site of the colostomy takedown. The surgeon didnt even report the injury in her surgical report. Powell had to undergo three more procedures to repair the leak and spent a month in the hospital for complications. Along with this she also now has an ileostomy bag to remove waste as her constant companion.

Powell has been told that the bag can be removed but because of her ordeal she is to afraid to go through the procedure to do so. Now thanks to the idiocity of the surgeons powell now stays mostly hidden in her home. Before she used to go for walks everyday for an hour.

Default Re: Surgical mistake ruins womans life

Wow....I sure hope that the doctor, and the doctor's that were assisting in the surgery lose their licenses. If they don't know how to spot a healthy kidney, they DO NOT need to be practicing medicine, let alone performing surgeries.

And my god, nobody ever bothered to look at what they were sending off to the lab to see if it was a tumor or not??? I would think that any moron could figure out that it was a human kidney. Hell, they could have searched @ http://images.google.com for kidney and on the first page, it shows a real live human kidney. It took me a whole 2 seconds to find it.
