Default All about Spades

The cards that are used are the standard 52-card deck. Aces are high. Score pads are helpful.

Dealing, the players each draw a card to determine who deals first. The player with the highest card is the dealer. Each player is then dealt 13 cards. The next player's turn to deal proceeds clockwise.

As for bidding, players must survey the cards they were dealt, and make an estimate of how many tricks they believe they can win (for information on how to win a trick, see the "Playing" section). The amount of estimated tricks between two partners is called a contract. Every player must make a bid of at least one trick; there are no passes, and no suit is named to be trumps since spades are always trumps.

Spades is a very social game if you ask me,I love it.In school my friends and I used to play at lunch alot. You have to be smart and really know how the game works in order to win it though. How you bid can win or loose the game faster than your actual hand will sometimes.Holding out and playing your cards at the right time are just as key to winning in Spades. You have to pay attention to the cards that have been played already in order to know strategically what card to play next.

You can have a decent hand and if you don't play it right you can cost yourself the trick. All in all though,it is very similar to the game of Rook.It is a very fun game to play with friends,it will keep you laughing and having a good time each and everytime that you play.

It is also a good drinking game,we used to make the loosing tricks take a drink. Before we knew it we were having all kinds of trouble remembering what has been played.Win or loose we all had a great time.Every now and again we actually still get together when we can and still play.
