Default Baccarat Scams in Vegas

This is interesting. I just read that there is a suspected ring of Baccarat cheaters in Vegas who have scammed about a million bucks last month!

Las Vegas casinos are now on guard, especially as it is the Eve of the Chinese New Year and one of the biggest gambling events of the year.

They are rolling out the red carpet for Baccarat players for this event and they will be watching everyone.

Here is what happened a month ago...

Quote:
That’s when state Gaming Control Board agents detained a group of baccarat players at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, one of the casinos thought to have been victimized by a scam that involves having a player “cut” the deck by dragging the cut card over the top of the deck and slightly separating the cards from one another with an index finger.

Using a miniature camera tucked under the gambler’s sleeve, the player records the value and suit of each card and uses the information later.

Although the casino suspected the gambler of videotaping the cards, the camera couldn’t be seen, so the gambler and others in his party were released for lack of evidence, said casino security consultant Bill Zender, who helps casinos detect such schemes.
Wow that is crazy. If they did that... they have a lot of nerve!

They believe that the group is Asian and they are known as the "Cutters". They have scammed casinos all over the world. They say the cheaters are extremely well organized.

Yeah, technology has come a long way with the micro-chip and there are some who will use it for cheating or stealing; using a miniture camera is one way.

I guess cameras can be made as small as bobby-pins and with the use of sophisticated sunglasses with tv-viewing capabilities; a player could get the live feed and cheat in a game of baccarat.

I think technology will end up becoming a technological terror at some point down the road, during the upcoming years.

And to think, baccarat is one of the easiest games to play with the smallest house edge (saw it on tv).
What would make someone want to cheat in the game? Yeah I know... money!

Baccarat is the favorite flavor for high rollers of course, on account of its favorable odds and speed of play. So it is not surprising that it attracts fraudsters trying to get one over the casinos. There can be a lot of money sloshing around at the baccarat tables-particularly in the VIP rooms.

Thats a good question vegas40. Who can be trusted these days? You just never know anymore. It's worse now than it has ever been I think. It seems like people will stop at nothing to make an easy buck. It is a shame that the world is like this now. And like VegasLuvsMe said, with technology being what it is things will probably get worse.
