Default Texas Holdem, I just dont get it.

I have tried Texas Holdem, I even have a book on the game, but I just cant seem to catch on to this game.

The book I have explains the game in great detail, but the terminology and so forth really throws me.

Some of the terminology I do understand from playing other kinds of poker when I was younger, but terms like the flop and the river etc are something I just cant seem to wrap my mind around.

Are there any casinos in Las Vegas in which you can learn the game of Texas Holdem? I would need an instructor with plenty of patience, thats for sure. But am really interested in learning this game.

The best way to get a hands-on experience with a live table game of Texas Hold'em, is to ask one of the Las Vegas casino's floor managers if and when there is a Holdem game they offer to learn for free.

I think most of the casinos now have a Texas Holdem table version where you can learn the basics, but it's not the same as the real game.
They can teach you what is envolved in a real game of Holdem though, which would be a start.

And then when you learn enough of Holdem, where you think you can play, just get into one of the tourneys most casinos offer.

I think they start at $30 and up to buy a seat in a tourney, but you have to register early to get a lower buy-in seat, because they go fast.
