Default Elvis Presley

Before I tell ya about this show I am going to admit that I am not really big on Elvis. I know, you all might think I am crazy but he was before my time and for some reason, he just doesn't do it for me. I like lots of other musicians from back then but I think maybe because so many of my family were always infatuated with him it just made me indifferent.

Anyhow, this show does intrigue me. It sounds like a good one. It is called "The King Lives". It's going at in the Night Owl Showroom at Hooters in Vegas.

In the show, Tribute artist, Pete Willcox sings some of Elvis's most popular songs. This guy is really good. He has been doing Elvis for over forty years. He has made appearences on “Cheers,” “L.A. Law,” “Murphy Brown” and others.

I have to agree with you that Elvis Presley has never appealed to me either. He was a great singer in his time and actor, however it drives me crazy that people refuse to let him die!!

I wonder how many great artists and actors are being ignored because so many people can't stop thinking of Elvis? Elvis was a huge hit in his time, but so many still hold onto him tightly and it makes me wonder how many others with awesome talents aren't being seen because they aren't as perfect or good looking as Elvis was?

I really believe that people need to let this man finally die and rest in peace!!

I would love to go see this show!

Elvis was waaayyy before my time, but I like his music. I can't say that I'm infatuated with him or anything like that, but I have to give the man props....his music is really good. Sure there are probably lots of artists that probably get overlooked because they came up right when Elvis was big, but you can't say that people over looked other artist of that time.....if no one knows who they are, more than likely they weren't that good or didnt' stand out. Saying people need to move on and let man rest in peace is like telling people to get over the Beatles or The Grateful Dead.

My mother is a big Elvis fan and loves his music,we went to his mansion when I was little and she had tickets to the concert that he never had because he died.

She was pregnant with my little brother and had him right before he died. She was so upset about his death.

I know his music because of her,and if you listen to some of his songs like Wise Men Say,or Jail House Rock, and more you might even find that they are pretty good and you might even like it.

Don't get me wrong I also enjoy his music but for crying out loud everyone is so stuck on this man that they just won't let him die. OK maybe not EVERYONE but there are a whole lot. Listen to his music, watch his movies. But other than that leave the poor man alone.

I believe that the same does go for the Beatles and the The Grateful Dead. They are no longer with us so enjoy what was left behind of them, but don't blow it out of the water like people do with Elvis and like they are now with Michael Jackson.

People need to let these people rest in peace rather than doing everything that they can to hold onto someone who is no longer around. Some fans become so fixated on an artist that they miss out on something or someone who is even better all because they cant see what is right in front of them.

I knew of a woman who was attempting to legally marry Elvis just a few years ago. Her daughter was a friend of mine is school and her Mom is was an Elvis fanatic. It was kind of freaky. No I take that back it was just plain freaky. Of course she couldn't legally marry someone who was dead, but she tossed a lot of money in lawyers and such trying to get this done. It was just down right nightmarish.

This is why I say that people need to let these great artists REST IN PEACE!!!!

What is morbid about remembering a man that was as talented as Evis? There was only one and will never be another like him.

It is not worshiping him . it is just remembering him and letting our kids that did not know him , know what a star he was. I ove his music of all kinds, my fav was his gospel and his Christmas. The man had a talent in all areas.

I do not want to forget him.

I was referring to queen of hearts post about the lady trying marry Elvis when he's dead.

I'm all for remembering the greats and passing down thier great music for future generations. It's people who take admiration to the "creepy stalkerish" level like the lady wanting to be legally married to a dead man...you can't tell that that's not morbid and insane.

I agree that is morbid, but people tend to do some really CRAZY shit over actors, singer or other artists that they like.

There is a way to remember someone for their talents without letting it become such an obsession that it rules a person's life.

For those who believe that they need to marry the dead, or impersonate the dead 24/7 and so on are the ones who need to let the person of their fascination rest in peace.

Hell my niece just told me about a week ago that some woman fell in love with the Eiffel tower and she actually MARRIED it!!!!! I have also read about this some where as well. There is someone else who seriously needs some damn help.
