Default Lion Habitat

The MGM Grand has one attraction that is free to all. They have a 5000 square foot lion habitat that is free for everyone to see. Unlike the exibits at zoos, this exibit allows you to be within inches of the animals. The only thing that separates you from the lions is an inch and a half of glass. This exibit even has a section that allows you to walk under the lions and see them through a glass ceiling that they walk across.

This exibit is open from 11 a.m.- 7 p.m. daily with feeding times at 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. There are 31 lions in all in the exibit but only a few are on display at a time. The animals are rotated in and out of the exibit every 6 hours. After spending their day at the casino they are transported to an 8.5 acre ranch 12 miles from the casino. They are washed and dried every day before going to the casino and are transported in a specially designed van. Talk about living in comfort.

I am so glad to know that they aren't stuck being on exhibit their entire lives. I love that they are rotated and get to roam on all of those acres. I am sure the habitat at the casino is spectacular but it's just great that they do get to leave there and roam around.

This is one place thats on my list of must sees. I am not crazy about lions but they are beautiful and to get the chance to see them that close is an opportunity that I wouldn't pass up.

This sounds like a great way to spend some down time from playing at the tables. Being able to walk under the lion habitat is and see them from a different point of view is neat way to observe the lions. Sounds like someplace I'd like to visit one day.
