Default Zumanity

Zumanity sounds like it would be interesting. Have any of you seen it?

There is no ongoing story plot, each act has its own individuality. The setting is a European opera house. They say that when you step inside the theatre, you feel as if you are really in one.

They say there is no trickery involved in the show or anything mechanical. The characters interact with the crowd and there is a emcee. The emcee brings everything together with his wit and narrative songs. A band also plays.

I guess they do amazing acrobats that are made to be sensual. At one point, one of the characters shows strength and acrobatic talent while suspended by two pieces of silk. And she is being sensual all the while.

This is currently playing at the New York New York Hotel & Casino in Vegas.

Here is a video from youtube to explain the show a little better.

This was the first Cirque I had ever gone to, and I happened to love it. Keep in mind that come from pretty conservative roots, so I was excited, but a little skeptical.

I will say that I was impressed with the general theater--lush velvet couches, vibrantly warm colors, and the intimate views. And, given a couple of cocktails, this Cirque does what Vegas does best--lowers your inhibitions, lets you see how the rest of the world lets their hair down, and provides you with some darn good entertainment that you may not feel comfortable writing home about (but are definitely glad you saw). I was impressed with it overall--I thought it was sexy yet tasteful, and really quite beautifully done.
