Default 500 Foot Ferris Wheel in Las Vegas

Developer Howard Bulloch from Compass Investments has plans to give Las Vegas visitors a view unlike no other by building the "Skyvue Las Vegas Super Wheel" which is like a ferris wheel but 500 feet high!

It would be higher than the London Eye.

Along with the super wheel he wants to include a roller coaster and tons of retail space and entertainment space as a part of a $100 million dollar privately funded project on the south end of the Las Vegas strip.

Quote:
"Skyvue Las Vegas will complement both the hospitality and entertainment industries," Bulloch said in a statement. "This world class attraction fills a niche in our economic recovery, creating jobs and offering a new and unique entertainment offering for the tourist base."
It sounds like a great project that will be a good attraction but I will say there ain't NO way I'm getting on that thing!!!! Keeping my feet on the ground!

A 500 foot Ferris Wheel? Wow, about sums that up!

I love a ferris wheel ride because is simple and relaxing, plus you can see for a long way when you're on top and it stops.

I bet it will cost quite a bit to take a ride on this new 500 foot ferris wheel that they plan on building in Las Vegas.

That is one attraction I wouldn't mind going on when they get it completed.

Holey Moley, a 500 foot ferris wheel? Dont bother asking me to ride with you. I just dont think I would like that too much. Thats too high for me.

But I can see where this project would bring a lot of visitors and more revenue to vegas. And that will be a really good thing in this day when the economy has been so bad on Vegas.

And the carnival atmosphere is bound to bring more people to ride the rides and just enjoy themselves.

I don't think I read the article about the 500 foot ferris wheel, but is that 500 feet tall, or 500 feet in diameter?

A ferris wheel being 500 feet tall would take tons of energy, litterally, to turn and it would probably take an hour to go a full revolution with people getting on and off of it.

Just something to think about.

I believe that is 500 feet high. It will take 30 minutes for it to make one revolution.

This photo is an artists rendering to give you an idea of what it will be like.

Quote:
When it is erected in 18 months, the wheel will provide a change to the Las Vegas skyline.
Each ride will last for 30 minutes to go around once and will provide unparalleled views of Las Vegas.
Each gondola will be the size of a family room and you will be able to eat dinner in an air conditioned glass encased booth.

That's down right (or up-right) crazy.

I couldn't see myself eating diner on a huge ferris wheel to begin with, unless it's a Burger King or Mc Donald's meal of some sort...
I'd be too busy taking pictures to bother with eating on that huge ferris wheel.

It would still be an adventure to look into when they complete it.
