Default Mob Museum

The mob museum is one of the newest additions to Las Vegas and sure to draw alot of attention. It is a must see and on my list of things to see when I get out that way.

Quote:
The Las Vegas Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement (the “Mob Museum”) in the former U.S. Post Office and Federal Courthouse building in downtown Las Vegas.
This promises to be one of the best places to visit as far as I can see. Here is some information about how it came to be.

Quote:
When the city’s mayor is also one of its foremost mob authorities, there will be no competition among organized crime-themed attractions in Las Vegas.

That’s what the city’s former mob attorney mayor, Oscar Goodman, said today during a media tour of the Las Vegas Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement. It’s called the Mob Museum in shorthand. The space at the under-renovation U.S. Post Office and Federal Courthouse building, the very site of the Kefauver Hearings that brought many mob members into the national discourse for the first time, is largely Goodman’s vision.
I just can't wait to see it. If any of you get out that way and do see please share your thoughts. I would be thrilled to hear from you.

It does sound like it is going to be a big hit in the Vegas area.I can not wait to see it myself.I wonder what all will be in it?

I wonder though would it be putting to much inphasis on criminals? What kind of thing is it to celebrate crimanal activity?

I do not really care myself if it comes or not i am just trying to look at it from all sides. What do you think?

I would definitely love to stop by this museum when I get out that way. It's sounds interesting and I'm such a history nerd that I'm a sucker for any museum that showcases some American History.

Anita - I don't think its meant to celebrate criminals, but rather as a look into our own History. Mobs ran and controlled a lot of towns and cities back in the early 20's and 30's. Especially in Vegas the Mobs had a good run of the city. It's just another part of our American History. That's how I see this museum as anyhow.
