Default Mob Museum

The Tropicana Las Vegas will soon host a new museum. As you all already know I love history and just learning about how things used to be. This museum will be great because it will be all about the mob.

The exhibit will have the biggest collection of artifacts having to do with the mob.

Quote:
Among the more than 1,000: Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel's 1933 Packard, Meyer Lansky's diary, Tony Spilotro's gun (Spilotro was played by Joe Pesci in Casino), Giancana family photos, home movies and more.

Families sold or leased them to the museum, in part because they are tired of portrayals of mobsters in books and films and to show the world there was another side. They often were devoted family men, Bloom says, and insulated family members from what they did for a living.
This is supposed to be a very hands on sort of experience. They are going to employ a ton of technology intot he project. We will be able to interact with animated "mobsters". We can order someone whacked or spared. We can choose whether to help police or not and so on. It should be really neat.

It's supposed to be up and running on March 1st.

Default Re: Mob Museum

It's pretty cool that the Tropicana is building a Mob Museum to give those of us a better look at the workings of what really happened with mobs in the past.

I remember reading about Bugsy who use to run some of the Las Vegas casinos back in the day.

It is mentioned that there were several mob men who started Las Vegas and some of them came to Vegas to get straight and become honest businessmen.

I bet if most of those mob men came to Las Vegas today, they would probably fill their drawers (medaphorically speaking).

This would be so cool to experience. I mean it isn't often that you can visit a museum and actually interact with various things!! Interaction has been proven time and time again to improve the experience but the learning as well.

I have never much cared for mob movies and things like that, but this museum sounds like something I would absolutely love to visit!! HMMMM my birthday is in March....I wonder if I could talk my sweetie into taking me there as my gift...I know it won't happen but it is wishful thinking.
