Default Ten Historic Buldings in Vegas

I am really big into history. I love to learn about how things used to be and see buildings and items. Here are the five most historic buildings left in Las Vegas. These would be really neat to see I think.

1. Mormon Fort (1855)
The fort was built before the mob, before casinos, before the Wynns. The Mormon church saw the area as a perfect place for a settlement.

2. Golden Gate Casino (1906)
This casino located on Fremont Street is the oldest casino still in operation in Las Vegas. It's first name was actually Hotel Nevada. Room and board back then was only $1 a day.

3. Railroad Cottages (1910)
These cottages are located between Second and Fourth streets and Clark and Garces avenues, a nationally recognized historic district. The cottages are bungalow style and they served as homes foir railroad workers.

4. El Portal Theater (1928)
Located on Fremont Street, this theater was Las Vegas's first and at times, only theater.

5. Las vegas Highschool (1930)
It is located on seventh street and is now known as the Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts. This building is listed on the state Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historical Places.

I love all of the ornate detail on that building.

Now i wish my high school looked like that. Most of the schools you see are lacking in the arcitectural splender department. I might of liked going to this school. I didnt know there was a fort there either. that would be cool to go see. Ive been to the Alamo in San Antonio and enjoyed it. I wonder what this one is like.

It's not so much of a military fort such as the Alamo but more of a church settlement. Really cool though. I love to see and learn about the history of things. I just think it's neat to see how it all began lol.

I got to go to Harper's Ferry and Gettysburgh and other places like that when I was little and I loved seeing all of that stuff. Harper's Ferry especially because they dress like they did way back then and they have the smiths and saloons and all of that just the way it was years ago. So interesting how people lived and worked.
