Hello from Holland!
Hi there!
My name is Birgit, I am 31 years old and live in Holland, quite close to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
My husband and I are leaving for Las Vegas within 6 weeks now, so the fever has kicked in!
We'll arrive on Thursday September 8th and leave on Saturday October 1st.
Since we're not into nightlive and gambling, but do appeciate some extra space, we'll be staying in an appartment at the Cancun Resort, which is actually on Las Vegas Boulevard, but South of the airport.
The appartment will serve as 'base camp', because we plan many small trips to the beautiful surroundings. Currently on our list are Red Rock Canyon, Mount Charleston, Mojave NP, Valley of Fire, Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Snow Canyon, Coral Pink Sand Dunes and Kodachrome Basin.
The one show we really want to see is Penn&Teller, so we booked in advance and have front-row seats. We'll check out the last-minute options when we're in town.
We recently found out Las Vegas Restaurant Week will be held August 29th -September 11th, so we'll have a few days to enjoy.
We really look forward to this special trip and enjoy planning. Your suggestions are more than welcome!
From Holland with Love,
Birgit

Re: Hello from Holland!
Hi Birgit and welcome to the Las Vegas forum.
The weather in the Las Vegas area is basically like the desert, very dry and hot during the day and much cooler at night.
You will most likely be use to the cooler weather, but during September and October in Las Vegas it averages between 85 and 95 degrees.
Dress for hot weather, bring sun screen and keep water on you at all times if you are out and away from the city.
I hope you enjoy your stay in the Las Vegas area.

Hi VegasLuvsMe!
I was in Las Vegas before, but that was 15 years ago with my parents. We drove around in a huge RV and stayed at the CircusCircus RVpark. I remember driving into the city July 2nd (my brother's birthday) when we noticed a sign stating it was 117 degrees Fahrenheit, so we calculated that meant 47 Celcius. We couldn't believe it, so we tried again and again, but it really was that hot. And after sunset it got worse!
My husband basically had the same experience (give or take a few degrees)with his family in 1990, so when we decided to take this trip, we started out with information about temperatures and picked the time that had the nicest temperature for a trip like this.
We were in Florida a few times in September and October, but I guess the climate over there is more humid than Vegas.

Re: Hello from Holland!
Hello Birgit, welcome to the best Vegas forum. I hope that you will have an amazing time on your trip to Las Vegas. I haven't had the pleasure of getting out there and I don't live an ocean away. One of these days I will manage it, but til then I love hearing about what everyone else does while there.
One thing that I really wanna see when I do get there is the wax museum which I have seen some pictures of and they are really cool. Also there are a couple of shows I wouldn't mind seeing as well as some of the record breakers that are there like the largest gold nugget, largest chocolate fountain and more.
Any way I'm done rambling, I do hope that you have a great time, enjoy your trip and stay safe!!

Oh ok, so you know what it's like in Vegas then and hopefully it won't be that hot this time around (and shouldn't be).
You will be staying there for quite a while too. It would be nice to get some direct feed during your stay, while visiting all those different places.
I know, easier said than done; with posting online while in Vegas. I found it nearly impossible, since I was either gambling, taking in the sites or sleeping .
I hope you really enjoy your stay the next time you visit Las Vegas.
