Default Great Time for Buyers

I just read an article that says four out of ten residents in Las Vegas are looking to move out of the valley. They say that is because so many jobs have been cut and the economy has taken a toll on them. Las Vegas was one of the hardest hit major cities with the downturn of the economy.

Thats bad news for them but great news if you are hunting for property in the city or outlying areas. There is lots to choose from already and more to come on the market.

It seems as though the economy is on the rebound and Las Vegas is as well. So you might never get a better chance to purchase a house there.

“It seems some people would want to leave because jobs are unavailable and jobs were such a large force in drawing people here,” Futrell said.
With that being said I have been reading about new jobs and expansions and stuff in Las Vegas so one would think that jobs will become more readily available like they used to be.

Default Re: Great Time for Buyers

Well, a friend of mine just got back from a week on the strip.

Despite all "the talk", she said she would not have noticed a difference... if she hadn't read my "complimentary" $300 newspaper. Housing is a lot lower than it was when she was there last she had considered moving there in 2006! Yes, she said that she was aware it's down overall, but this is the first time she had ever seen a condo advertised for $20k anywhere other than Deathtroit.

So she got the bug to buy-buy-buy something there now... Any suggestions?

A friend moved there years ago, somewhere near Durango & Cheyenne. I thought that area was decent.

Is it realistic to live on the new Northern end of town in a house, and commute into the UNLV area? She found a great house there, except it uses natural gas for heat (why?). Or what about condo life closer to the airport? $20k sounds great but I'm sure there is a catch... otherwise they would be snapped up already.

Thanks in advance for a thoughtful discussion.
