Project for low income senior citizen housing.
I just read this and happy to see that this Senator has got the deal worked out. He will be bringing low income housing to the senior citizen of Henderson.
This will be a blessing for the area and to the seniors who live here. There aren't enough of these types of units available to them.
Quote:
In 2004, Mike Schneider, a state senator with a long career in real estate development, began purchasing land in west Henderson, not far from Nevada State College.
Schneider said he didn’t set out to build a government-financed project. Instead, he said he was looking for a niche in a troubled market. He found it in senior housing.
That demographic is set to explode in coming years, as the number of units available for low-income seniors is limited, especially in Henderson, according to a market study by Applied Analysis in Las Vegas.

This is going to really help the real estate market in the Vegas area. We should be happy that this man took the time to do his homework and get this thing rolling.

Re: Project for low income senior citizen housing.
At last some one has taken steps for the senior citizen as they are a neglected part of the society for so many years.i strongly support this step and there should be implimentation of this decision very soon.

Re: Project for low income senior citizen housing.
The elderly are often pushed aside because everyone doesn't want to take the time to put them first every now and then.
At one time I worked with the eldery, mostly I just did cleaning and a few other things. Though one thing that will stick with me are the stories that they would tell me about how they grew up and the way things were at that time in their lives. It was really amazing.
To most people those stories were boring and not worth hearing, however I loved hearing them!!
I am glad that soon the eldery in Las Vegas will have better care and living environments. Now if only these things would happen all across the country!!!

Re: Project for low income senior citizen housing.
HEre is an update on the project in Henderson. It seems that there was a groundbreaking ceremony.

State Senator Mike Schneider addresses officials and developers gathered for the groundbreaking ceremony of his property located on 511 College Drive. Plans for the development there call for a 226-unit, tax credit apartment community for seniors.
|
This is great news and I have at least one lady who will be glad to hear about it.
What do you all think? Will it make a difference for the seniors in the area?

Re: Project for low income senior citizen housing.
This is a fantastic idea. As you all said, senior citizens have been neglected throught the years when it comes to their health and well being.
As people age, they find that they dont need or want a huge house any more but finding an apartment that they can afford on their limited incomes can be downright difficult to do.
Hopefully when these apartments are finished, they will have very affordable rent with utilities included as that will be the only way that some of our senior citizens will be able to make it as most times they have to make choices between food, medicines, etc and they need all the help they can get.

Re: Project for low income senior citizen housing.
The children may be our future, but the senior citizens built up the country we live in and they do deserve a break.
I'm happy to see things are moving along with the senior housing project in Henderson, NV.
It won't be long and I'll be among the senior citizen population, but I may not have the luxuries of social security by then...
With the way our government is spending our social security money on illegal's and other projects they like spending it on, it's dwindling fast.

Re: Project for low income senior citizen housing.
I love it when a plan comes together for senior citizens.
My parents are now senior citizens and they are getting along ok by themselves and living close to family.
It is great to have housing to help out the people who use to be the pillars of our community, and guides to ourselves and many other children throughout their lives.
