Default Bette Midler Happy to be Done in Vegas

Bette Midler says she is glad to be done with her two year show in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace. She said the first eighteen months or so were great but when the economy turned ugly she says it got bad.

She likened Las Vegas's fallen economy to "Ground Zero" because they were the hardest hit.

She said that at one point during her stay she ordered room service and the girl showed up all out of breath. She asked the girl what was wrong and she told Bette that she was taking care of all of the guests because they had had to let so many other workers go.

Quote:
“I was living in the hotel and I remember one day I ordered room service, and the girl came and she looked so exhausted. I asked what was wrong and she said she was having to look after all the guests — they’d let everyone else go. And that’s when you start to question yourself — what am I doing here? Am I contributing to this?” Bette explained.
I can only imagine that she was a help to keep things going in Las vegas. She brought customers into Caesars which in turn helped to keep that girl's job.

Bette says she doesn't regret having done the two year show but she is happy that it is done.

Heres hoping that the economy picks up in Las Vegas so they can hire more help back so that one person isnt responsible for so much, and with that being said, I do hope that she does make more per hour than what she had been making when she had other people helping with her job.

The stars are what bring a lot of people to Vegas so none of them should feel bad about being there, their presence is probably saving some of the jobs that are left as you said.

I agree with you IluvVegas. I'm glad some of the stars take their business to Las Vegas, whether or not they're hurting for a job, it helps keep the economy going in the worlds largest gambling city.

I don't think that single girl got much more in a pay raise, but I bet she got some well-deserved tips (I really hope so).

If I had someone like that give me room service, I would throw in an extra tip.

That is so sad to hear. It is so difficult for people to even find jobs now a days. I am also sad to hear that Bette Midler is leaving Vegas.

I guess its okey though because now we may have a chance to see her else where and perhaps a little closer to home.
