Default Vegas Celebrates Elvis Presley's Birthday

Mega entertainer Elvis Aaron Presley would have turned 76 on Sunday January, 8th. He was the "King of Rock and Roll" and still today his legend lives on. Las Vegas celebrated his birthday in a big way.

Several of the different major casinos held tributes to Elvis.

Throughout Las Vegas you can find many different things that were created to honor Elvis.

Cirque du Soleil does a production called Viva ELVIS.

The Las Vegas Hilton has a life-size statue of Elvis which was unveiled in 1978.

Elvis has a star on the Las Vegas Walk of Fame in front of the Riviera hotel. Elvis's star sits right next to Liberace's.

At Madame Tussauds Las Vegas you can view two wax figures of Elvis.

I only got to see Elvis on television as a girl. I still remember the last show that I saw where he did the final curtain.

Seems like it was shortly after that they reported his death. If he was alive today I am not sure that music would be the same. His influence was so strong that we may have something totally different when we turn on the radio.

It's a shame that he went out like that. So unexpected and still so full of talent and love for acting and music.

His legend will live on forever though. Our kid's grandkids will know who he was and some of his songs. It's inevitable.

What I wonder is, if Buddy Holly hadn't died in a plane crash, would he have been the famed "Elvis" that all the girls druled over through the years?

Elvis was the King of Rock-n-Roll, but there were many other singers on that same trail as Elvis, which didn't get the recognition he had.

I remember when my mother (as I was very young) and sisters (as I was a bit older) use to swoon over Elvis when they heard him singing, and more so when they saw him on the tube.

No, I wasn't jealous over the fact that a lot of girls and women were crazy about Elvis. I just didn't know what they saw in him as a singer. I guess he was a cute guy or something.

They swooned, because that man had more sex appeal in his little finger than most men have in their whole bodies. You would have to be female to understand. Lol

Buddy Holly was a good singer and had some good moves, but he, to me anyway, wasnt all that good looking. Elvis on the other hand was damned good looking.

Plus the fact that Elvis had soul in his voice and when he did the gospel songs his heart was completely in it.
