Default Alaska Coming to Vegas?

Well this is an interesting idea. Alaska tourism is down and so they are considering a proposal to create an Alaskan tourist attraction on the Las Vegas strip as a way to attract more visitors.

They are calling it the "Alaska Adventure Center". It won't be just a hotdog stand. It will have the works. They will have shows, food and some shops that would sell native things of Alaska such as gold nuggets and crafts.

Each year, 37 million people visit Las Vegas so they feel this would be a great way to introduce Alaska to the public and possibly get them to pay a visit.

Tourism is down in Alaska, and boosters think that having a Vegas presence could be beneficial. The idea is to sell vacation packages while entertaining visitors. Green says Alaska could use the kind of visitors Vegas gets, especially international ones with $$ to spend. He says he has an eye on a spot on the Strip that's available, due to depressed real estate values in Vegas.
Do you think this would entice you to paying a visit?

If they have an Alaskan area in Las Vegas during the summertime and keep it really cold, you know there will be a lot of visitors those buildings.

And yes, I would visit an attraction of Alaska in Vegas whenever I visit again.

I think that having an Alaskan Adventure Center is a good idea and would probably be a hit if they have a big area or room that's kept cold during the summer...

Something like; the Alaskan Climate room, where people can experience the cold temperatures of Alaska.
Like either two or four different rooms, one for summer and winter or one for each of the seasons.
Then, charge a fee for a coat rental so you could visit the colder rooms.

It's just an idea that popped up in my head. If they show an exhibit of the annual dog sled race it could be in the coldest room, to give people an idea of how cold it is when they race the dogs.

Overall I like the idea of the Alaskan Aventure Center in Vegas.

I agree with you. I think it's a good idea. I'm not really sure how many people will be intrigued enough about Alaska after visitng the center in Las Vegas but maybe it will draw more people to visit the state. Alaska is beautiful and full of nature. I've never been there but I have seen a lot about it on television and read things as well. It's not just eskimos and igloos as seems to be peoples perception.

We will see if it works.
