Donations?
I've been thinking about this quite a bit recently, especially with the good luck I've had (so far) this year..
When you win, no matter what the amount, do you donate anything to charity, or use any of your (net) winnings to help family/friends?
I'm a strong believer of Karma, and really think I should start doing this again...I've helped people I know in the past when I've won a good amount, but haven't recently. I was just wondering if anyone else does this..

Re: Donations?
cool to think of others. good job win. i am pretty charitable all year so it usually does not tie in with gambling/playing. i did, however, have het donate 1 million of my reward credits($10,000) to charity and i also had them match it dollar for dollar so the total amount was 20k. usually if i have a nice hit i like to spread out a nice tip to the employees. they deserve it....

Re: Donations?
I believe in it too. When I am playing with friends and I win, I always share. I also routinely give some to charity when I do well, and when I see individuals needing something, I usually give too. I have had others help me in the past, and giving where it helps just makes me feel good.

Re: Donations?
Great idea winbig. When you have won more than you can spend, or not, it's a good thing to share.
I was taught at a young age to stick to myself and not to bother others.
Well, I'm grown up now and realize that there are many children in our own country that are going hungry and need shelter, so I donate a little each month if I can.
Whether it's for an indian school, or to a food organization towards feeding children.
The children are our future, so if I can help in a small way, I hope it will help even one child to have a better future.

Re: Donations?
Well normally i am on the receiving end of other people's kindness. Had a rough life, ever since childhood, but thats a long, crap story.
I wanted to say that i have been at the receiving end of good people like Dominique and for those who have never had to have help, i mean real life saving help, its something that touches your heart in ways you can't imagine.
First you feel ashamed, and disappointed in yourself and feel you are not worthy of the help, but when a person you don't even know [really know] comes out of no where's and tells you its ok, your not a bad person because your having to deal with life's difficulties, and your worth helping, it just changes the way you look at yourself and the world. When i received the out pouring of help and support it made me feel like i belonged, and thats priceless.
So i thought i would post how the people who have received your help and generousity probably feel from your out pouring of empathy and kindness, you have probably changed someone's life, and not in a small way, you have made someone in this world feel like they belong and are worth saving and caring for. And that in return makes them want to be there for others now to. It has for me, so you all have "paid it forward".

Re: Donations?
I think this is what everyone should be like. If they did then there would be no more poor people in this world. It always makes me feel good to help others when and where I can. My hubby says I am to giving at times... But is there such a thing as to much giving?

Yes, there is....
That's actually why I haven't been giving recently, because of the fact that I've had a ton of bills recently and even with all that I've won, I really couldn't afford to give anything away, or I'd be the one asking for money..
What I usually do with my winnings is pay what bills I have, buy myself something nice, and then take a little and either give away directly or indirectly, in some form or another..

Re: Donations?
I have never won anything even worth mentioning but I do always try to help friends and family out when I can. Not necessarily with money but in whatever way I can. They do the same for me!

Re: Donations?
This actually jogged my memory of a trip I made to AC last fall.
I had been playing poker in Caesars for several hours, grinding away. I was up and down, but holding my own. I went outside for a cigarette break, and there was this guy out there, that didn't look scruffy or homeless, but was sort of young and clean-cut, and we got to shooting the bull while we were smoking. Well, he got into how he lost all his money playing poker there, and needed a little bit to catch the bus home.
I'm a good judge of character, and know if someone is trying to con me, or not. I felt he was sincere and wasn't lying about his situation, so I had a pink chip ($2.50) in my pocket, and gave it to him to cash in for himself.
I kid you not, not 30 minutes later, I went on one hell of a tear and ended up winning over $700 in the next two hours ($1/$2 NL table)...
Karma is more than "what goes around, comes around." If you do good things for others without expecting anything in return, good things will happen to you.
