Default I Need Las Vegas Information for a Friend

A friend of mine is planning on taking a trip to Las Vegas in a couple of months. I think she said they are going in September. She was asking me some questions, mainly suggestions for her and I told her that I am sure I could get her good information here.

For one she wants to know where is a good place to stay that is reasonable? She wants decent sized rooms that are clean of course and she would love to have a view of the strip.

Something else she asked about is restaurants. She wants good food but doesn't want to have to be dressed to the nines. She likes to wear nice shirts and shorts but nothing really fancy.

They are both (she and her husband) around fifty years of age and have never been to Las Vegas before.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I spoke to my sweeties parents about your questions. They have been to Vegas many, many times over the years and know just about everything about the area.

They suggested that if they wanna save some money and lose some luxuries that pricey hotels offer than they may wanna check out the Flamingo.

Now as for dining there are hundreds of choices where they won't need to be dressed up. It is all going to depend on what are their favorite foods. No matter really because just about anything that they are in the mood for they can find it with out dress codes.

If you know what they wanna eat please let us know and I am sure that we can suggest some restaurants for them to check out.

I am sure that they are going to have a great time in Vegas. Everyone I know who has been there before says it is like the greatest place to go because there are so many different things to do there, things to see and more.

People can find all the information about Las Vegas on Google, but a lot of the info can be misleading.

Unless you've been to Las Vegas and have taken some of the deals the strip casinos offer, you wouldn't find much help by searching Google.

Like the Flamingo, I've found that Harrah's or Bally's hotel and casinos to be resonably priced, since I've stayed at them several times, and you can get decent comps too.

My favorite hotel casino is the Palazzo. All of their rooms are suites and they are very comfortable.
They may be a bit more pricey than the Harrah's properties, but well worth the extra money.

As far as i know, the Imperial Palace is the cheapest hotel/casino on the Strip, with the best location (right on the middle of the Strip close to many other hotel/casinos).
There are cheaper ones (for example Stratosphere), but those are way out of the center of the Strip (not really walkable).
I don't know about the sizes of the rooms though, or if they are clean (will stay there my next trip, so i can tell more about that in a few months).

For food i would recommend one of the many buffets they have in Vegas. You can dress casual (shorts and/or sneakers are no problem), prices are very reasonable, you can
try lots of different dishes, and there is so much food to offer, that everyone can find something they like. You could check the forum for a list of best buffets in Las Vegas.

Thanks River for your input. You have a lot of really good advice for us and we do appreciate it. I agree that taking advantage of buffets is a great way to save some money while getting a variety of dishes. I know that I plan on doing this the next time I get to take a trip to Vegas.

Additional to vegasrocks: This map of the Las Vegas Strip (see attachment) is really handy to determine where each hotel is located in comparison with the others. It is not 100% up-to-date (everything changes so quick in Vegas!), but i find it still very useful.

And about the rooms: if they are clean or not, maybe more depends on the cleaning person that particular day, than on the hotel's cleaning policy? Because when i check hotel reviews, i always see completely oposite reviews about the exact same hotel. Of course, it should also not depend on luck if your room is clean or not !! But i can imagine that when your friends would have serious complaints about their room, that the hotel management will do their best to make them happy again (maybe even a free upgrade to a better room?!).

And, ones your friends make their decision about which hotel etc, will you let us know about it? Then we can taste it a little bit and day-dream away!
