Default mini trip report....

left newark nj at about 9 am on sat morning got to mecca at about 11:30 vegas time. my buddies where all checked in at mgm grand. we stayed in a bungalow suite. nothing special but nice. headed down to a cafe in the hotel for a turkey club. stuffed my fat face since i knew this was survival food and probably the last meal for the night. my buddies where all about rubbin elbows with the in crowd so i left them and headed to the tables. played let it ride for a few hours. no good hits to speak of. hit the slots for a few hours and got my drink on. headed to the garden arena to wish paq man luck. his dressing room was a mob scene. i have never met him and he seemed real loose and was in a nice mood. really seemed like he was in a good mind set. talked to one of my best friends(trains pacquiao) and he told me hatton was doomed. i had already figured as such since hatton is a reckless fighter with terrible defensive skills. never even took my seat as i was talking with friends as the massacre unfolded. went up to a room for some post fight cocktails. dont know who's it was but it was a 2 story room with an outdoor balcony. pretty sweet. some guys where hittin the town but i decided to hit the machines for the rest of the night/morning. probably played until 5 or 6 am. i was in zombie mode. got a couple hours sleep, washed up and headed to the hash house for some biscuits and gravy. just enough time to stop by caesars and visit a friend who came in for the fight. he rode to the airport with me and i got the 4:15 back to ewr. landed about midnight last night and was home by 1:30 or so. slept on the plane so i'm in decent shape today but not feeling good enough for my normal morning skate. my little one is on the play station and my girl is out shopping so i am in full relax mode......

Glad to see you had a good time 1819.

We had a discussion in one of the threads where MGM was robbed and the person got away with some cash.
You may have already discussed this in that thread, so I will check it out in a bit.

I noticed you mentioned taking a morning scate. I'm trying to guess what you're past life was like as being an athlete, and came up with a Hockey player.
I can't put that together with you being a fairly wealthy man though.

Thank you for the update on your almost uneventful trip to Vegas.
Meeting a one of the latest boxers is pretty cool though.

I met Mahamad Ali at his PA training camp when I was 9 years old, that was cool.
I have a picture of me sitting beside him and also have his autograph stored somewhere.

correct. i made my living as a hockey player. i spent 4 years in the nhl and a couple in the minors. i retired before absurd money came into the league but was fortunate enough to make more than someone should be paid for playing a game. grew up blue collar and my dad put my money away for me. a couple of good investments and, at 42, i'll never have to work nor will my family. my brothers are set up in good business' and their children's college is paid for. bought mom and dad a home as well as grandma and gave my brothers the down payments for theirs. helped a few friends along the way as well as a few strangers. alot of my money goes to various charities and the rest is thrown away at the tables. lol. i dabble in the fight game and have a few fighters. i met ali at angelo dundees 70th birthday party. angelo's brother chris was a dear friend. as far as the mgm heist? i have no idea what you are talking about.

Mystery Solved! 1819, i wish i was in your family! LOL

How wonderful that you were able to take care of your whole family, and then some. I would be honored to meet you someday, not because of who you were, but because of who you are.

I curtsy to you, in honor of your kindness to others and strangers. BTW - I'm a stranger? LOLLLLLL

Thank you for filling in the blanks 1819.

I hope the 4 years in the big leagues didn't get you too banged up, and hopefully not too many missing teeth.

I like to watch hockey when I get a few minutes with the tv controller, if I can catch a game playing on one of the sports channels.

I'm not into sports the way I use to be, basically, being a writer and editor takes up much of my time. On weekends I will play a little online poker in the mornings and then do the household chores, and then try to relax when the sun starts dropping.

Since it's summer time again, time to keep the lawn trimmed and I still have to get those trees trimmed back too.
Loads of outside work to be done, just have to get off my arse and get-R-dun!

You can be so full of it sometimes, but it's funny.

I'm sure that you still keep yourself busy 1819. Although you say your retired, but your'e really not.

If you don't have something to do, I know this may sound a bit corny coming from a guy, but you could start a small garden or put the plants in boxes for fresh veggies.

I'm gonna get together with the wife some day and get a small box planter started, for fresh tomatoes, peppers and anything else that will fit in it.
