I'm sure that you still keep yourself busy 1819. Although you say your retired, but your'e really not.

If you don't have something to do, I know this may sound a bit corny coming from a guy, but you could start a small garden or put the plants in boxes for fresh veggies.

I'm gonna get together with the wife some day and get a small box planter started, for fresh tomatoes, peppers and anything else that will fit in it.
lol. correct. i'm pretty busy these days. i was not raised to just sit around. we do have a nice garden at the ny house. it was actually needed so we could get the property farm assessed to avoid paying insane taxes. since it was assessed most of it is a lawn since they really dont bother checking up there but it is still a good size. in years that we spend alot of time up there the garden has been wonderful. in years, such as this one, we cant give it as much time since we dont get up there often enough. i have tomatoes planted here in jersey but they are hit or miss. i have a banana tree in florida but it is also hit or miss. we do get nice lemons and key limes though..

Since you're talking about trees, I'd love to have some kind of fruit tree here in SC. I think peaches might grow well here.

South of here, about 100 miles, there are peach orchards that do really well.

We have just discovered a pecan tree in our yard a couple months ago when I first mowed in our dog's yard.

The pecans were sitting on the ground for who knows how long, but the nuts were still good enough to eat.

It takes about 9 or 10 years before a pecan tree will develope nuts, unattended anyway. That's how long its been since I moved here when the tree had just started to grow. It's about 15 feet tall and produced about 50 or so nuts for its first crop.
