Default Social media to find a pet.

Las Vegas shelters are using social media networks like facebook to help find shelter animals homes.

Quote:
They’re not able to talk, of course, yet animals in Las Vegas shelters are finding their voices online.

The animals, via their human caregivers, are tweeting and posting on Facebook, and it is helping them find new homes more quickly.

“I will be sure to let you know how much I love you every day,” a gray, medium-hair cat, Princess Ashlyn, wrote on Facebook alongside her photo.

“What is it like to sleep in a bed and have toys to play with?” said Donna, a 2-year-old petite Chihuahua.

“I trusted and loved them, but they threw me away,” said Chachito, a 4-year-old tri-color Chihuahua who was found in a crate on the side of a road.

The personal statements are mostly written by Doug Duke, executive director of the nonprofit Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which operates a no-kill animal sanctuary.
This is a wonderful idea and the man who decided to do this gets a thumbs up from me. The voices he has given them makes me happy but also makes me sad. I am sad to think how heartless it is to put an animal in a box and leave it somewhere.

You are so right, this is a great way to find homes for pets. For someone to be their voice can kinda jerk at the heart strings and therefore find a home for that animal.

It is unbelievable the things that people will do to unwanted animals. Putting one in a crate along the road is just plain mean. No food, now water, and no way to keep warm if its cold outside or get into the shade if its hot out.

Wonder how those people would like it if they were treated that way. And something else, if they treat their pets like that, how do they treat their children?

Thats really awesome! I hope they find safe, loving homes for all of the animals. Animal cruelty is simply not acceptable at all! It's ignorance at best!

All animal shelters should do this. It's a great way to get the word out about all of the animals that just need a home and some love.
