Default Some Vegas history.

Did you know that in 1930 there were only 5,165 people in the city. In 1931 Pair O Dice club opens on highway 91 which was later to become the Vegas strip.

In 1938 Guy McAfee opens The 91 Club. Of course it was on highway 91. In 1941 Thomas Hull opens El Rancho. This was the first resort on what is now the Vegas strip.

There is so much information but it is interesting to see how Las Vegas became to be. These pioneers gave us the great city that we have today. If you want to see more information you can check out the Las Vegas Sun or better yet visit Las Vegas. The library and museum are sure to have lots of cool stuff related to Vegas's beginning.

Default Re: Some Vegas history.

I find it totally amazing that Las Vegas has grown so much is actually what would be considered a short amount of time.

I have looked into some of Las Vegas history, and it is quite amazing how it got it start and to watch the progression of its growth throughout the years.

Going to Vegas now is by car or plane, can you imagine how long a trip to Vegas would have taken back in the 30s? It would be interesting to find out how long it would have taken from Ohio back then as opposed to the 4 and a half hours it takes now. I think I will do some research on that and will get back to you with the facts.
