Default Things To Avoid in Las Vegas

I am not the best one to give advise on vacationing in Las Vegas since I haven't been there myself but I did just read what sounds like some pretty good tips on things to avoid doing in Las Vegas so that you do have a great time. Maybe this will be helpful to some of you.

1. Don't gamble too much. This is a no brainer but I do know that it can be hard to stop yourself. The person who wrote these tips said that his father once told him that all of the lights you see in Vegas were paid for by the millions of people who put their coins in the machines.

2. Don't drink too much. Again, a no brainer but when you are in the moment.. it may be hard to stop. Before you know it, you have gambled away your plane ticket home!!!

3. Don't pick the wrong hotel. Do your homework before you get on the plane to go to Vegas. Different hotels are more catered to different peoples needs. Some are more family friendly, some are better for the nightlife and so on. You need to decide what you will be looking for while vacationing and then choose a hotel.

4. Don't try to drive. Traffic is terrible on the strip and you may just end up sitting in a long line of cars longer than you are at a slot machine. There are other great modes of transportation.

5. Don't be unprepared for the weather. You will be in the desert. Talk about heat in the summer! You need to have the appropriate clothes and drink lots of water. You may also need some warmer clothes because it does cool in the night.

I hope these tips help prepare you for your trip and you have a great time.

Yeah, we always prepare when my wife and I travel to Vegas.

Ok, she does most of the preparing, but when I'm by myself I do the same thing.

I use to drive truck and it's basically the same way of preparing when you travel to Las Vegas.

Pre-plan your trip, bring plenty of fluids and buy some kind of food in case you are stuck somewhere.
And bring extra cash that you won't spend until you need it.

Always have some extra cash on a credit card or in savings just in case you run into the problem of blowing all of your money on unexpected expenditures.

Choose a safe place to sleep at night where you know your neighbors, and be kind to them because they may save your life one day.

Great tips!

We always set up a per day limit for gambling - so before we go we have our "gambling fund" and each can spend "x" amount a day. It is almost as fun seeing how long you can make it last.

I am not good at making in last most of the time so that leads me to totally ignoring you number two tip.

I was always one to believe Vegas was the experience and the hotel was not important until last trip and we stayed at Bally's. Was OK hotel till we visited a friend at the Palazzo. WOW what a room!

I know what you mean VegasLover about the Palazzo.

I've stayed in some really nice 5 star hotels in my life, but I think my last and only 4 night stay at the Palazzo is still my favorite hotel stay of all.

I once won a room (via a poker tourney) several years ago to a new Barcelona, Spain high-dollar hotel, the Hesperia Tower.
The room was to dye for with all of the glass work, room paintings and extras.

But I was complaining to my wife that I would rather have stayed at one of the Palazzo suites (mainly because of the room size).

Each room there is a suite. Comfortable beds, each room with a dvd monitor, and the living room area is sunken with a wrap-around couch in most of them.

I'd rather sleep on the couch while watching the tv and drinking a beer.

Honestly, I could see me just completely going in crazy in Las Vegas. If I ever get to go, I had better have someone else stash me some money away and keep tabs on my drinks because I would probably get carried away lol.
