Default Vegas Banning Hula-Hoops?

Vegas banning Hula-Hopps.... say what???? I read that they are doing something to that effect.

They aren't actually banning hula-hooping all over Las vegas but they are banning it from the five-block pedestrian mall known as the Fremont Street Experience in the city's downtown core. They are doing this because they say that it interfers with the flow of foot traffic and basically just gets in the way.

Quote:
The provision is actually a minor part of an ordinance, expected to come before the council later this month, that aims to restrict a litany of activities on the plaza, a tourist attraction where light shows occur hourly on the world's largest LED screen, which doubles as the underside of a metal canopy capping the five-block stretch.
Maybe it is a problem, I don't honestly know but it is kind of funny that they would ban hula-hooping when you can basically walk around with bottles of booze and look in the telelphone book and find lots of escort services. Can't help but to think it's a bit ironic.

Lol, I didnt realize that hula hoops were still something that was still in use. Where have I been? Rofl.

I can see where it might interfere with foot traffic, but still it is something that some people might want to stop and watch as not everyone can use a hula hoop.

I used to be able to roflma, but these days it isnt an option. I would end up in the hospital. lol

You're funny IluvVegas...are you trying to say you'll throw a hip out if you try a hula-hoop?

Yeah, I'd have trouble hula-hooping too.

I didn't think there were many, if any, hula hoopers out there, and in Vegas no less.

I've tried the hula hoop many years ago when they were the "in thing" back in the 70's. Haven't tried one very many times since then.

I used to hula-hoop. It's been a long time though. Both of my girls can do it. My oldest is actually very good. I have seen her do it for like twenty minutes at a time before she loses control lol. My son has tried it but he is just hilarious to watch. Boys just don't know how to work those hips like girls do lol!

Yep, the hip would definitely go. Lol

But, it is a great exercise. I used to be good at hula hooping back in the day. But like I said, these days hula hooping isnt even an option.

Can you still buy them, or are these hula hoops that these kids have found in moms or grandmas attics?

I know what you're saying IluvVegas when you asked, "are these hula hoops that these kids have found in moms or grandmas attics?", because the one in the picture looks like the old regular hula-hoop.

I've seen a few newer hula-hoops while passing by them in the store, and I thought that they had more colors and glittery looks to them.

I'm wondering why the hula-hoops weren't full of colorful patterns like the clothes were back in the 70's?

Maybe they were, but our parents wouldn't buy them for us, "too hippy-like" I guess.

I know you can buy hula-hoops in the dollar Stores like Family Dollar and Dollar General around Easter time and I think that Wal-Mart carries them all of the time. They are very glittery and patterned these days. You can find the more plain ones too though. I can remember hula-hooping when I was a kid. I was never very good at it. I was always better at jumping rope. I'd be too embarrassed to try either one these days though!!!

They sell them at Walmart? Guess I need to visit the toy section more often than just at Christmas time eh?

I dont think they had any glittery hula hoops back in they day. I dont remember ever seeing them. Mine was just a plain solid color and I used it every day. I was a hula hoop junkie way back then.
