Default Vegas travelers cancelling trips?

Are many travellers cancelling their trips to Las Vegas this spring?

I know I was supposed to go but can't and am now glad for it.

It is a shame as I would have enjoyed it but I don't think I want to risk getting sick either.

How many of you changed your plans because of the reports coming from the CDC?

I am not going this year either. I feel it is better to take the advice of the experts and stay away from public places as much as possible.

They say that with proper hand washing and covering your mouth when you sneeze or cough that we could prevent the spread up to 50%. And if we stay away from public places that it could cut the spread by two thirds.

When they have gotten to the place that they say if someone in your household is sick right now, that everyone should stay home, it is time to take this thing very seriously.

So no Vegas trip for me right now, plus no trips to our local casino for me either until this whole thing is over.

We have a news reporter on our local TV channel that is getting married next month and they had planned on a honeymoon at Cancun, but due to this illness are opting instead for Jamaica.

It has been said that the younger generation is taking the fact that they shouldnt go to Mexico a lot more seriously than the older generation who say they are not going to cancel their planned trips. And, that could be very harmful to all here in the States if they bring this back on their return.

I remember going to Vegas a couple years ago and a soon after my return I was sick for a couple weeks.

I love to visit Las Vegas, but there are a lot of germs there from different parts of the world.

So, staying home during a flu outbreak might be a good idea for the time being.

We will all be glad when this flu bug has stopped spreading.

That is so true, every single time we go to a casino, within a day or two we are both coughing, and sick. And with the threat of this "flu" going on right now, its best that everyone cancel any plans that would bring them into crowded places. My son is going to fly back home to vegas on Monday, and i am trying to tell him to get a mask, to wear on the plane, that is one of the worst places to be right now!

come on gang...let's not be cancelling any trips here due to a flu outbreak. once again our media has blitzed us to death and here we go... there's what like under 300 cases worldwide? that's 0.0000035% of the population. during a normal year thousands of deaths are attributed to the common cold and we never hear a peep. all of a sudden the swine flu is here and watch out! i'll be in vegas this weekrnd. i'll let ya know if it is still there.

Good luck 1819!! You are right about the flu. but some people have health problems already and this flu could make them sicker than normal people. So don't blame them for being afraid..This flu has alot to do with how well your imune system is. Some folks don't have good ones as it is and don;t need something else to fight.

I would guess if the flu cases were closer to home we would all think differently.

We have six cases with symptoms of this "don't worry about the flu" H1N1 virus 10 miles up the road from us.

I had a flu virus once that lasted three months, so I like to take pre-cautions and just stay home.

I don't get sick much at all, but when I do, it lasts a good while.

Better safe than sorry. It is just such a shame, I read that Vegas is suffering just due to the economy. Now this?

The N1H1 (swine flu) virus is not as bad as I thought it would be as of May 3rd;
http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/

But I read an article on this same strain of virus dated 1918-1919, and millions of people were infected during that time, with a 1% death rate.

It is contagious, but can be treated in time.
